Doesn't really like creativity in papers despite the fact the papers are mildly creative writing involved. Also not a super great dude in general. Lectures were boring and he often FORCES people to read (not good if you've got anxiety).

This is the best class I have ever taken at Grand Valley. It really renewed my passion for English and writing. Professor Osborne leads great in class discussions. He structured the course so that our class could choose what we wanted to learn and it worked perfectly. I have never been in a better learning environment.

Honestly the easiest class I have taken at GV, not in a bad way! 2 papers through out the entire semester. A majority of the classes are spent talking about what we read the night before. Definitely recommend, especially as an SWS

Best professor ever!!!! I loveeed bill. He is so cool and so nice!! we just spend the class talking about what we read, and he is open to whatever you feel. We got into some great conversations and i enjoyed every class!!!! He is pretty easy on grading, and barely anyy homework. I am going to take as many classes as I can that he teaches!!

He was a GREAT professor. Anyone scared to take an SWS should take his class. All you do is read stories go to class and talk about it. You have to do 2 portfolios which he doesn't grade hard at all and the mid-term was 25 M.C. questions which took 12 minutes. Easy A and VERY interesting.

Good guy, effective teacher, but don't take him expecting too much conversation/interest by the class, at least in an intro level. He is interested, but he let my class walk all over him, so we didn't accomplish much. 2 papers, 2 tests, lots of movies. Know the text, especially the quotes, as you will be severely tested on them.

The class is extremely easy and Prof. Osborn is a really nice guy. You have to be a moron to do poorly in this class with him teaching. While I'm a writing major, I took about 2 hours (or less) a week to write a story and got A's on all of them. Class is also a lot of fun and really, really laid back.

He's a sweet guy and the class was fairly easy. Only two papers and two tests. However, his grading scale was not clear, and we really didn't delve deep into Shakespear. If you want an easy class - as easy as Shakespeare can be - take his. If you want to learn and be challenged, try another professor.

His grading system for papers is horrible. In four years of college, he is the first prof that graded down for having a thesis statement!! Other than that, he makes class fun and interesting by showing different movies and leading interesting discussions

Awesome professor and really helpful, but didn't realize the hardness of his exams until after I took the midterm. The entire grade is made up of the midterm, final, and two essays. Don't screw up or you're doomed right from the get-go. Little room for error. Shows lots of movies, which isn't my kind of thing..I'd rather read the novels.

an easy prof. just read and go to class and you get a b+ or better. people who said he was hard didnt go to class because he repeatedly tells you everything you need to know for tests. dont say a prof is hard and then say you can skip the class.

I really enjoyed this class. He just wants you to write and try something new. Class itself was pretty stress-free, but I wish he would give us actual grades rather than just narrative comments.

I love Shakespeare, but I found the tests really hard. He assigns 2 papers since i took it as an SWS course, and he grades the papers really hard, since the whole class failed, he let us redo them! Besides that he's a really nice, laid back and easy going guy. Lots of movies in this class too!

He shows a genuine interest in helping students improve their writing. His lectures were clear and he was always very helpful. His grading system is also pretty stress-free. If you are interested in improving your writing, he is the professor to take.

This is my favorite class so far. The professor is great, and I learn a lot about writing fiction and poetry. I never even knew I liked writing poetry until now. I recommend this professor to anyone. The class was easy and a little reading to do on the side. I'm trying to get him again next semester for WRT 330. I definitely recommend him!!!!

Good mentor, organized, cares for students, and is very helpful. His detailed feedbacks are very helpful. Great guy. I was not confident about creative writing before taking this class. But now I feel confident, and love writing fiction. Will take him again.

Okay class. There was quite a bit of reading, but you could get away with slacking on it. Grade is based on 2 papers, a presentation, and a final project. He expects you to write well. Project & presentation are vague, but easy to do well on. Easy class.

Painfully easy class which was both good and bad (bad because I never wanted to go). If you're looking for a class that is really easy and doesn't require a lot of work, this is it.
