If your quiet like I am, don't take this class. He called on me to interpret a line from a poem about colonialism and I got a bit nervous. I interpreted "red coats" as the British and it was actually referring to the RCMP. He humiliated me in front of the entire class and told me to "get my act together." The course work was fairly easy, though.

I LOVED Trevor as my English prof! Trevor is very friendly, cares a lot about his students succeeding. There are a few papers, a midterm and a take-home final. Lectures are really interesting and class participation is expected. If you want to grow in your writing, Trevor is the person you want to learn under!

Trevor is the best teacher you will ever have. Super knowledgeable and gives excellent comments on your work. He's the kind of guy that makes you feel like paying for your education is worth it. He also doesn't mess around with group projects for marks and instead does discussions in groups just for sharing sake.

Stay away if you can. He made us write a review on his own documentary and he would constantly tell the class how he is a published author. He also picks on students and makes them feel stupid if they do not know the answer. I took him twice thinking it would be different the second time but unfortunately it was not.

Trevor is clearly very passionate. Hard to tel if his stories are real or bs which made it hard to respect him. He know what he is doing thats for sure. Lots of writing and group editing which is super helpful. Do the assignments and youll do fine! Required to buy and read the course pack weekly.

This course was okay, but the teaching style isn't for everyone. For a writing course, there is a lot more lecture than writing. Also pretty intimidating...

Trevor is the most amazing teacher I have EVER had. If you're a high achieving student who loves working hard and having a mentor who cares, this is the guy. He is fair, and very detailed in his marking. He will send you feedback on pieces before you submit if you're concerned about something in your piece. AMAZING teacher who does more than needed

Instructions can be quite vague, but is overall an easy marker. Also, not everyone likes it, but I really enjoy his rants on culture and history!some people say he picks favourites, but if you contribute meaningfully to discussion, he will instantly like you. Would deffo recommend him to others!

Trevor has really inspired me when I was not giving him material that was up to par with the rest of the class he sat me down and had a talk with me about it and gave me a chance to redo all it so I could get a better grade, I really respect him for that.

Trevor has a very long, very entertaining, story for virtually every subject. He connects anecdotes about his own life to lessons in the course, and pushes students to come up with their own theses for their essays. His instructions aren't always clear, but he's not a hard marker, and will take all the time you need to make sure you understand.

His lectures often go down a deep rabbit trail, very rarely did I learn anything during class. But he does care greatly about his students and wants them to succeed. He helped me improve my writing and is always more than willing to help students who need it. Once you get over the fact that he loves talking about himself, he is a really great prof

If you're first nations take this class, for once it is a white prof who is actually involved and passionate about first nation problems . He is such a great guy! Best prof I've ever had, not to mention he will help if you ask. He will even work with you one on one if you aren't too ashamed or busy to ask. He is a caring and intelligent prof

Great teacher, easy marker if he likes you! Doesn't like kids who don't participate in class and sometimes has attitude with the ESL students. Good teacher overall, very passionate about his work and the work of first nations.

Trevor is a down-to-earth professor whose stories transcend time. He learned under Allen Ginsberg & he will remind you of it constantly. Most of the material he teaches is creative writing & is always interesting when he teaches it. If you like professors with stories, spontaneity and/or passion for their work, take his classes any time!

Comment:
Trevor is overall an okay prof. He is very passionate about what is learned in class however, the discussion usually becomes about his experiences and not what we should be learning. Most of the time he is reasonable with his grading but can be very condescending with his essay feedback. I would not recommend his class especially for quiet people.

Trevor overall is a great professor. He is very passionate and serious about the material, if you're not serious about writing it will be tough. He's had a lot of experience in the field, and he will tell you alllllll about it. The syllabus was out of order and confusing to understand. Not good for super quiet/shy people wants participation

He made us write a review on a documentary that he is in. Make sure you are paying attention, though. He calls out on people and you might want to have the answers to them. However, a very knowledgeable teacher.

Comment:
I was so excited to take this course based on the subject matter, but it quickly turned into two-hour lectures about a whole lot of nothing. Trevor's instructions are very muddled and he deviated from the syllabus multiple times, resulting in a student complaining to admin. I enjoyed the poetry but I won't take a class from him again.
