Susan is a good person. Material taught is good. However she is a very hard marker, if something is not written exactly how she wants it marks will be taken off. She is also very biased while marking your work. Taking her class was one of the worst experiences in my academic career.

The most down to earth prof I have had. She genuinely loves the course and wants you to succeed. I took the condensed two week course, I was dreading it of course but honestly enjoyed it. She creates an open environment and wants discussions. She gives notes on how to do assignments so you can do well!

Desks are arranged into a circle around the class Group meetings almost every week (you don't get to choose who is in the group. Group size: 4) Quizzes are easy Assignments (mini-essays) are marked harder. Lots of feedback given You WILL get to know your classmates well... even if you don't want to

Amazing prof. Took her 2 week class and it was unlike any class I've ever been in. I hated it at first but was so sad it was over by the end. She can be really intense, and a little abrasive sometimes but it's only because she cares so much. Wouldn't recommend to anyone just looking for easy credits but the class can change your life if you try.

A wonderful human being who really takes the time to ensure that everyone is involved and understands the topics being discussed. Isn't afraid to bring up personal life experiences to help further relate to the topic at hand, and encourages students to relate to their own experiences in order to better grasp the meaning of each topic.

Sue really changed my life. She has high expectations and challenges the way people think. Her passion for philosophy and for her students really shows; She truly cares. She is always willing to make time to further explain concepts or to give feedback. You get out of it what you put into to! If you work hard, you will feel rewarded in the end.

I took her 2 week condensed class in the summer. The class was definitely one of the hardest I've taken given its extremely condensed nature. Susan knows what she is teaching. She is blunt, but she wants you to succeed. Attend class, study class material until you know it 100 % and ask for help when you need it and you'll do fine.

Took PHIL 100, 240 & 221 with Sue Amazing professor, one of the best I have ever had. Took 3 courses with her (would have taken more if I could!) at Capilano. I had a really hard time the first class I took with her and my marks reflected that, but she really helped me see somethings in the end once I was open to it. Then I wanted to learn more and challenge myself more. She is really there for her students and is trying to challenge you. Showing up and participation matter. Go to her office hours! Expect that you are wrong and trying to peel away the layers of how that might be the case. Her courses are about exploring what is rightethical not proving that you are right. I grew so muchas a student, in my writing and thinking, and in myself because of Sue and these classes. I am so grateful for her!

Absolutely one of the worst profs I've ever had. She controls everything. She wants you to say what she expects, wants you to do what she wants you to do. If you don't say something in a way what she wants you to say it, she takes a mark off. Very controlling and very hard to get an A. She wears the same clothes for 1 week - gross!!!!

Hated her for the first half of the semester. Then something switched for me. I found that she really cares about the subject and students. She was pushing us to our limits. I firmly believe that my writing is much better because of her. I took the semester course, dropped out and then took the two week one in the summer. defiantly the way to go.

Sue is an amazing teacher. I struggled the first bit of the critical thinking course and then I really started to get the hang of it. Come to all the classes, find a homework buddy (I promise it helps). TYPE all of your arguments. She will change the way you think! Truly a remarkable teacher.

Sue makes it very clear that you have to do the homework. She wont ever spell out what you need to do to get high marks on her essays, but she was 100% available by email when I had questions. Don't hesitate to email her if you don't understand something! My good grade is due, in part, to her guidance by email.

The most amazing class I've taken at Cap. I'd never felt so comfortable being so honest and personal with classmates I had just met. Susan is a tough but inspirational teacher with passion. Not an easy journey so don't consider this an "easy" version of a Q course... but I strongly recommend that every Cap student should take Sue's PHIL 110 class.
