Nuclear and Particle Physics... this guy wrote the book on the stuff, and while i agree he is a bit old to be teaching a large freshmen physics lecture, in this intimate setting he is great. he's been around forever, and worked with some of the best in his time. pull him aside and get him talking, some great stories and a passion for particle phy

Poor Dr. Folk is so old he could really go anyday. Hes about 82. He is one of the worst lecturers I have ever seen - hes just too old. I feel bad for the guy. He has no business teaching at this point in his life.

Go to class to get handouts. Make your cheat sheets for exams off of handout problems. Sit at the front of the room because he mumbles and you won't hear a word of lecture. Really boring though and he's definitely getting too old to teach.

Eh, it's an easy class--you might not get a lot out of lectures, sure, but phys II is still pretty easy, so you can get it on your own. EE's might find this interesting as well: Folk taught Holzinger, and Holzinger taught Haller...quite an academic lineage, as it were...

I had Dr. Folk as a professor in 1980. He was probably one of the best professors I ever had while at Lehigh- he could explain things, and the text he wrote was actually pretty good. Its a real shame if he has slipped.

I heard that the school offered phase retirement for a short period of time, and he procrastinates sooo much that he missed the deadline. He didn't want to just plain retire, he wanted to phase out so he told them he'd die in the classroom. He is very intelligent, but mumbles a lot.

An intelligent man who has trouble conveying the material. The overheads aren't much help and he mumbles throughout the lecture, but if you do all the homeworks and understand all the questions on the practice exams, you should do well.

This man is undeniably very very smart. But he is beyond elderly and simply cannot do it anymore. He is only kidding himself by continuing to teach.

He is a horrible teacher, but if you can get your hands on past tests, just use them for the tests and final, because they are basically exactly the same

He worked with Einstein, which means he's too old to be teaching right now. He speaks in low monotonous mumble, and tells very bad jokes. I was afraid that he would fall out and kill himself when he bent down to pick up the chalk one day.
