Will spend extra time with you if you show you are worthy of it. Students are expected to actively learn the subject. If you work hard, you wil love this course. Birders need not attend.

Jane was a very knowledgeable prof who seemed to know everything about zoology. That being said, she motored through the lectures. Good luck taking notes- she doesn't post them online after. Her midterm and portion of the final were also very difficult; full of trick questions and words you might have seen once. Scary at first, but a smart woman.

Lab: she's wonderful and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions. She seems scary at first, but she's kind. Lecture: bit quick on the slides and the information. If something is unclear, you can shoot her an email or go to her office. Or check the textbook; I just found going to her much easier. Overall, a good professor :)

IN lab she was great... in lecture it was the worst she would speed read then go to the next slide ... if you have her take a recorder and pictures of diagrams on slides ... nothing else matters, most of her info is spoken so just listen and try to take notes off that !! GOOD LUCK AND STUDDY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN !!

Jane was a dedicated, and passionate biologist and in lecture her energy spread around the room. Her portion of the midterm and final were difficult, however, and she required many specifics. If you know the material well, she's an excellent professor.

Jane is a knowledgeable and interesting professor. I found her to be tough but fair. You'd better be a speed writer- she goes through slides at lightning speed and doesn't post them online. I wish that the material in the text actually corresponded with the lecture material.

Not very approachable for 1st yr students - serious, dedicated & enthusiastic - I appreciate her no bull attitude. You must work hard to do well, as in real life. Slackers will not like. Fantastic in upper level courses: extremely knowledgeable & fun. Knows her field well - won't post slides; pay attention in class! use text!

She's a very enthusiastic lab instructor, and helpful. The lab exams require A LOT of studying though, but are reasonable fair. For lecture her notes aren't very good, and you have to pay attention more to what she's saying. Tests are fair.

Good class, very interested in what she is teaching. Very willing help and to answer questions, especially in the labs. Her tests are pretty fair ((as long as you study and put the effort in)) but, occasionally it seems like she throws in random questions about subjects that weren't really emphasized ((or hardly covered)) in lecture or notes.

When I took her first year zoology class (co-taught w/ tim goater), it was the hardest course I had ever taken in my life. Bio 121 was the most rigourous and demanding of any of my 9 courses in first-year at VIU. But, as I progress through my degree I now realize that the work ethic they expected in 121 is the norm for 2nd 3rd,and4th year courses!

Her class was boring and her jokes werent funny. She goes over the notes super fast and does not put them on the moodle site so it was impossible to get all the notes and listen to her at once. Her tests were impossible for first-yr students!

Jane is a great upper level, but such a snob and not interested in the first year classes. Too bad, she weeds out some very interested students!

Jane didnt seem too interested in helping her students obtain their best grade possible. She would often make you feel dumb for asking questions. The course would be way better if Tim Goater taught the whole thing

Excellent teacher; strict, but very insiteful. If you take her class, you better be prepared to learn the material thoroughly. If so, you will find her class very enjoyable. If not, she won't waste much time with you. Do NOT talk while she is lecturing.

She is the definition of laziness. I mean how f@!#$## hard is it to give us SOME insight into what is on the exam and get off your A## and give us some real notes instead of hectic spewing of pin points on the overheads. The marking scheme must be FAIR for everyone!!
