Though he's a great guy personally, he is not very specific and has a very old fashioned way of grading. ( white board marker and you better listen or your going to miss the key points)

He's super nice and wants you to do well! Lectures go by quick! He will help you with the papers that are required. I would definitely take him again if I was not graduating after this semester.

Great professor, but I would probably never take one of his classes again. This class is based on two exams and two assignments. The exams are each worth 100 points and entirely writing so you need to know your material. There are two papers: the first was easy. You get out what you put in. The second was very difficult and time consuming.

You are graded on four things; Two papers (both of which are difficult) and two exams, where if you do not know the material inside and out you will fail. If I wanted to take a philosophy class I would have, but for a criminal justice course, this guy is all over the place and lectures are lengthy and confusing.

Great class. Expect lots of reading and writing, but it isn't hard to do well if you put in a good effort.

You know a class is bad when the *first* lecture, you leave confused and bewildered. At the end, all the students said, "I have no idea what he's talking about." Very abstract, philosophical, and structure-less. Long winded, unclear, and a "performer" (His words not mine). Avoid if you can, but if not, drink a lot of coffee and pray.

Absolutely do not take this man as a teacher if you don't have to. His lectures are the worst thing i have ever had to sit through. He doesn't explain his concepts well but expects you to know close to 200 terms for a short answer test. This man thinks he is a philosopher and this isn't the class to do so. Awful profesor, I would never recommend!

Lectures are hard to follow. Literally writes his notes on the white board and expects you to follow every concept throughout the lecture. His exams are all essays with some true and false where you have to indicate why its true or false. Expect to read the book for this class to study for his exams.

This is my first semester taking Howard. I'm really disappointed. If I'd wanted to take a philosophy class, I would've signed up for one. His lectures are very sporadic and hard to follow. His readings are abstract and interesting, but not to focus on for weeks... I'm a 4.0 student but I'm nervous that his exams will be as random as his lectures.

Dr. Howard is my favorite prof at WMU. He is extremely smart, and always willing to help. His exams are green book and hard, but its good because it forces you to know the material inside and out. He expects a lot of his students. So if you truly want to learn, take his class. If not, don't bother, because you will fail without a doubt.

Howard is a very decent guy. He will go out of his way to help his students. People complain on here because they are lazy. Class consists of a lot of reading but as long as you do it, it is a very easy class. Final was pretty difficult but as long as you go to class and read, you will do just fine

Howard is a really decent guy and professor. I would agree with some others who have said his tests are pretty involved. I stopped doing the assigned reading after about 2 weeks and was fine. Just take good notes. He usually ends up covered in chalk by the end of class

Dr. Howard is extremely hard to follow during his notetaking as it is almost like he enjoys hearing himself ramble about whatever he can philosophize about. Tests are essay questions and extremely difficult and there is an enormous amount of reading assigned. You cannot get an A in this class and most A students will probably get a C. Avoid him!!

Don't take his classes. He teaches CJ like its philosophy or literary interpretation. His tests are ridiculously hard and his study guides are a joke. I was a 4.0 student before I took this class...thanks for the BA ass clown

Advanced Criminology is required for all CJ majors, and if you can, take it with Prof. Kramer. Howard isn't bad so to say, he just has a rediculous amount of work required for an A. Attendance is marked as part of grade, must bring in a piece of paper about what you read each day (put into grade too), and talk each day or you lose points. Excessive
