I have to take his class as an elective, and it honestly is really boring. But, as long as you do his papers and attend the extra credits there is no way you won't receive an A. He doesn't require attendance but he does do 10 point activities unannounced which are really easy points. The test are hard, but I probably got at least 100 bonus points.

He is super nice but the class got very boring. The tests are 1/2 of what was taught and 1/2 of what is in the textbook. In class assignments a lot, and there was an assignment over thanksgiving break. He tries to crack jokes a lot.

Class was okay.. he was pretty boring though. The tests are pretty hard but if you go to class (he takes attendance by random assignments) and do good on the papers you will do good in the class.

Great prof! He only has 8am classes but he is worth taking it. He doesn't care if you need to eat or drink lots of coffee either, or if you are late. Gives study guides, and tests are mostly identifying definitions that are clear if you do the study guide. Gives exercises that count for points and they help a lot so go to class. Lots of extra cr.

The absolute worst professor I've ever had at IUP. This class was my only C and I highly regret taking him. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE IF YOU HAVE TO. If you're sick for class and he gives a pop quiz he does not care-- even if you have a note. He makes study guides for his tests and puts all this stuff on that wasn't even on it. HARSH GRADER. BAD PROFESSOR

He gives no feedback on papers. Even if you ask why you got points taken off I filled requirements for a paper but did not receive full points. Class is dull and drags on. He goes through power points too quickly and makes jokes that are not funny.

He knows his studies and is really smart about the way he teaches them. some of the articles are dry and confusing, but he explains everything well... so long as someone is brave enough to ask him. he is intimidating at first, but then you start understanding him and you find out he is a really a nice, witty man.

Dr. Phil is a great professor. I highly recommend taking a class from him! His classes are not easy and nor does he clarify unless you ask him to do so, however if you are an Anthropology major, you should not need any clarification! He jokes around and makes the class very enjoyable, unless Archaeology is not your forte.

He is so boring... and jokes when really its not funny. Then laughs at his own jokes, as we sit there in silence. When I leave that class I really just want to be hit by a truck. Did I mention he really is boring, not interesting, and he makes me want to quit school and change my major. Thanx Phil.

this class was writing intensive and there were assignments due every week, which he graded VERY HARD. There was only one five page writing assignment and lots of inclass assignments, so the work wasnt too much, he was just picky about good grades. lectures were boring a lot of the time and he showed lots of movies that put me to sleep :(

Awesome prof, very knowlegable and very passionate about the topic. If you get the chance take him for Anthro. It'll be worth your time.

Awesome Teacher! Never lets things get boring. Always helpful, and accessible, which is even more important than the helpfulness. Writing-intensive, if you don't like that, but keeps things manageable. Great man, Awesome teacher!

He is the best prof you could possibly take for this course. He has a good sense of humor but understands that it's 8am haha. His tests are pretty tough, but there are only 3. He offers a ton of extra credit and there is one 5 page essay on an Immigration Doc. Not too bad though. Take this prof!!

Tons of field experience w/ many funny stories to share. Has offbeat sense of humor that is refreshing. Incorporates some unusual aspects of archeo into class. Writing intensive but fair, encourages critical thinking. His use of webCT, essays, and xtra credit opportunities make getting an A easy.

Booooorrrring! Man is this guy a snoozer. He sure is nice, and tries real hard but I can't help but fall asleep. If you're an anthro major and you care about learning you can get an A without to much work. For the rest of us, only take him if you are ok with a B or a Coma.
