I took this class online due to COVID. This course was one of the hardest I've taken even though the exams were open note I still failed them all. He expects you to memorize the most detail and most of it we didn't even talk about in class. He tried to make it seem like this course would be easy but it was the opposite.

Dale's exams were insanely difficult, even though it was open note. The amount of detail you are expected to know is insane. I worded something slightly different than the answer key and got no credit. He also teaches you things and when you put the exact thing he said on the exam you won't get credit.

I took Neuroscience with Dale and I absolutely loved it. He is super engaging and passionate about Neuroscience and makes the class fun. I will say that if you don't go to class or if you miss lectures you will do bad on exams. The exams are graded solely off the lecture material and the book only helps to explain more if you are confused.

The grading makes absolutely no sense. I do not know if this is Dale, or the TA, but I have had correct answers verbatim and I still am not getting full points. The exams are so specific they are damn near impossible, even with notes, and the powerpoint is essentially useless. Almost the entirety of exams from from the lecture itself.

Dale cares about his students learning so much. He is willing to go above and beyond to help you understand the material if you reach out. The tests are hard, they area few MC, fill in the blank, definitions, short answer, and a diagram. He is extremely knowledgeable. He gives example questions which are always on the test.

Dale is super engaging and clearly very passionate about neuroscience, so the lectures are pretty fun. Those exams are no joke though, you'll think you know everything super well but then get the exam and realize you don't. The exams are also the only grade, so it's a very tough class.

Dale is one of the best professors I've had at IU. Semesters later, I still go back and use the notes I took in his class. Be sure to attend his lectures, take good notes, and make use of his office hours! You will learn a lot!

TAKE DALE'S CLASS! He is one of the best professors I've ever had. He makes class so fun, and he is so animated while teaching. You definitely have to study for the tests, but they are super fair. He doesn't ask petty, nitpicky details. He asks about general concepts you talk about a lot. He made learning neuroscience super fun and easy.

Dale was my favorite professor at IU. His class was also one of the most challenging. He really pushes you to learn the material in a new way, and it makes you want to actually sit down and study because it's so fascinating! He's one of the professors that I asked to write my grad school recommendation letters. I highly recommend this professor!

Dale is honestly one of the best professors I've had at IU. While his exams are brutal (but really, this is Neuroscience, what do you expect?) he actively makes room in his schedule to see students out of class and is really responsive to emails. Even though his class was at 9:30am, I loved going because he's hilarious and fun to listen to.

Dale is hands down the best professor I have had. He wants his students to succeed & if you ask for help he goes above & beyond. It is a lot of hard work but if you come to class he will give you answers to a couple exam questions plus he puts what you need to know in red. TAKE HIS CLASS. He's hilarious & probably the smartest person I've ever met

Dale is such a great, fun, enthusiastic, effective professor, not to mention one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. It's a difficult course and requires a good amount of studying in order to do well, but it's fascinating material that is presented in as simple of a way as possible. I learned a ton and had fun doing it. Take his class!

Dale was great because he kept the material interesting. He was very friendly in office hours and explained concepts in various ways to make sure that you understand. You have to study for his exams but they aren't too bad if you took good notes. He jumps around in class and is kind of eccentric but that's what makes the class fun.

Dale is the best. He makes each class super interesting. I honestly wish I could take it again. It is a challenging course, you definitely have to work hard for your grade. But if you go to office hours, study and take good notes during class you will be fine. Plus Dale is hilarious and engaging, so you really can't go wrong.

Awesome, nice, helpful, and so funny and energetic. I LOVED this class!! I literally laughed out loud most days at the things he said. You need to study for the tests, but if you go to class and take good notes, you should be fine. Having taken Physiology (P215) really helped. Definitely take this class with Dale! He's a neuroscience genius.
