don't go to class and just do good on the test. Everything else doesn't matter. I tried really hard but all it mattered was a test. Absolutely skip class because it has nothing to do with the exam.

His math problems were ok. But the qualitative part was a nightmare. None of his qualitative problems could be answered through his lecture or slides. He asked questions like what is the highest PE ratio before 1990s. His lectures were trash, and he love to tell people he had a phd degree. I mean, please, I didn't pay to know what your degree was.

Decent professor But would not recommend. All exams will be all math questions where you will need to look at his 1980s slides to figure out how to solve them. Iclicker quizzes every class where he posts them in the morning of the class. Hes smart but entitled. Thinks hes better than everyone especially if you are an economics major. good luck

AVOID TAKING!!! His class is extremely math intensive and leaves you to learn all of the math ON YOUR OWN. He has not put a single math problem on the board for THE ENTIRE SEMESTER. Additionally, gives clicker quizzes every class on articles he posts usually LESS THAN 24HRS notice and sometimes even the morning of class... AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Knowledgeable professor who will teach unlike the rest of the econ department. Take financial with him. You will come away in the class with a better understanding.

He's a really smart guy, and if you're smart and actually want to learn something about finance he is definitely your best option. An A is definitely achievable if you put in the effort. Class preps you for the real world, no doubt. If you're lazy and looking for a free A, don't take him. Grading is based on 1 Midterm 1 Final, clickers, and HW.

Professor Mizrach is a nice person, but his Financial Economics class was terrible. His tests are 90 percent math problems, and in class he rarely ever goes over how to do any math problem. Students in this class were forced to learn everything on their own. He seemed disinterested in this class, and did not even show up for the midterm or final.

Probably the most disappointed I've been with a class in college. The class is math intensive, but there seemed to be a large emphasis on procedural math. I dont see the point of repeatedly calculating variance by hand. When will that ever be useful? That's not the difficult part, but is a frustrating waste of time when you're finishing an exam.

Decent professor. In-depth lectures, covers highly relevant material. Tests are tough, but you'll be prepared if you follow what's on his practice tests/review. He posts the identical exams from past semesters, so you don't have to wonder what the exam will be like. With a lot of work a B+ is doable, but he makes you work for it.

Very fair grader. Exams are about 75% directly from the problem sets/homework. These will be rather math intensive for the average economics major, but honestly nothing beyond algebra is required to solve. The other 25% comes from listening in class/studying the slide decks. Overall a good guy and good teacher.

The coursework for this class is solid. However, the guy is absolute rubbish at teaching anything. He is useless when it comes to thesis guidance as well. Doesn't know what to say when he is asked a straightforward question. Absolute nonsense of a teacher.

This class was actually not as bad as I thought. Just go to class for the clicker points and make sure to turn in the problem sets on time. All I did was quickly review the slides and studied the problem sets for the exams.

Respect him by participating during lectures. Takes attendance with iClicker. His exam questions are NOT similar to the previous exams, so don't fool yourself and browse through the previous exam that he gives, it will hurt your grade. But his classes are pretty interesting if you're interested in capital markets. A lot of off topics covered

Don't need to go to class and don't need to buy the textbook. Exams are just like the Problem Set/Exam Review he gives. Understand those and you'll get an A. Good Curve. Sometimes he comes off as rude in class. One of the easier upper level electives for sure.

The class homework and exams are extremely math heavy. Not an easy class but it is possible to get a good grade. Exams are curved and you get a cheat sheet. Exams are similar to the homework problems (there is homework every week). Extra credit opportunities by participating in class.

This class is hard. Unless you are honestly interested in finance and are pursuing a job on Wall street or in the financial sector, you're best off taking another class. Grades are 10% homework, 40% midterm and 50% final exam. I ended up teaching myself about 95% of material and the lectures are pretty useless.

The people who consider him to be smug or severely opinionated are just hypersensitive children. His views are whatever, his class is designed for you to do well. Study powerpoints, cheat sheet on exams, exams follow homework/practice exams. I'm getting a B+/A without class attendance and only PP's and practice assignments. Good class.

i’ve never had such a smug, self-absorbed ‘professor'. he unsuccessfully tries to engage students in HIS interests in the market; unrelated to the material he tests on. His first exam seriously deviated from the homework problems HE assigned. He realizes the mutual dissatisfaction with the students so he takes this out like an isolated coward.

Most of these are right that lectures can be a drag but the class is setup to get a good grade so I cant complain about that.DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!! I made that costly mistake ($200) unless you genuinely enjoy reading the material. You can do all the homework using his PP lectures.Yes you are teaching yourself but its ok with his curve come exam time.

The class material is interesting, but Mizrach is not a good professor. He will keep on throwing his views of the markets and politics of economics at you, but if you for one second challenge what he says, he will be offended. It was very painful to sit through this class having to hear him throw in his smart (and misinformed) in every lecture
