Comment:
If you want to be an accounting major, this is your guy. If not, under no circumstance should you take him. Does not do well with communication, and spends most of class having you finish his sentences and going over the homework.

I would rather play in traffic then ever hear this man talk again. One of the worst teachers i've ever had and needs to seriously consider retiring. Tells you about the test 2 days in advance and offers little to no help getting you prepared.

This is one of the hardest professors you will ever take, but he is a great professor. He makes the class laugh almost every day. Despite the difficult class, you will be glad you have taken him because you will understand accounting really well.

-Doesn't tell you your grade -No clear expectations for what's on the test -If you miss class for a valid reason you still cannot make up his random quizzes (I had mono for two months and was unable to miss a single class due to this, which took a big toll on my health) -No learning in class, just go over homework

This is a hard class. You absolutely must put in time and effort in order to get a really good grade. However, Shimerda is a fantastic teacher who explains the material in a way that is easy to understand. He expects you to come to class prepared, but participating in class will help you learn. He's helpful outside of class with whatever you need.

Did not enjoy this class at all. He explains the material in overly complicated ways that make it more confusing than it should be. The tests are very tough. He will ask you questions in class and you could give him the right answer, but he will still tell you you are wrong and roast you in front of the whole class. No Blueline either

Amazing teacher. Hard to get use to at the beginning because he doesn't give powerpoint lectures but this makes you take notes on your own and actually do your homework and understand it. He is funny and nice.

He is a very hard teacher and he is unclear about what he wants. His tests are extremely hard and confusing and this class makes me feel like I should not be in Accounting major at all. I would not take him if I didn't have to.

He is an awesome teacher because he really cares if you know the information. He expects you to do the homework, and he will let you know when you do something wrong. He is a very very tough grader and the tests are pretty difficult. However, he can be funny and shows he cares about his students.

A very difficult class I would say. I struggled in tests even though I know the materials. He is very helpful so use this resource. Class doesn't use Blueline so you have to record your grades in order to know where you are standing. His grading scale is quite unclear, mostly depends on the performances of the students.

Shimerda is a very hard teacher. However, if you put in the work, you will see the reward. He is exceptionally helpful and definitely knows what he is talking about. Talking to him outside of class is beneficial and his office hours are really helpful.

One of the best professors in the Heider College of Business. So helpful. He is abrasive at times, but he keeps everyone interested for 75 minutes. If you are interested in accounting, you must take him.

He is a good teacher but also difficult. His classes are straight lecture and he will go around and call on people that look like they arn't paying attention. If you really want to learn something you have to take this teacher. If you are looking for an easy A you should probably look for someone else

He is not afraid to accuse students of cheating. If you spend the time, the class itself is not too difficult.

Shimerda is the chair of the department, as such, is extremely pompous and condescending to his students. He seems to act like he is way too good to be teaching entrance level acct. Not helpful at all in office hours. I would avoid if possible. His entire lecture is made up of having the class finish his sentences.

Typical Shimerda. Pop quizzes, homework every night, random attendance roles to see if you fit his "Curve" at the end of the semester, hard as hell tests. I'm an accounting major so he didnt make me shy away from ACC, but be on your game for him. Otherwise you will be Shimerda's "Finished Goods," (and not in a good way.)

Dr. Shimerda is very hard. No extra credit, pop quizzes, and the tests are very very hard! He makes you do homework every night. I missed class because I was sick and he does not let you do make up I took him because I heard he was the best teacher to have. I was wrong. Only take if you are an accounting major! Avoid if not!
