He will come in and tell you a story for the majority of time and then be like oh yeah we got a quiz next weekend. Also doesn't teach much and talks about his time he lived in Africa. Will show you pictures of his trip. The class drags but if you don't believe me then try it yourself.

Professor Bein has amazing experience and stories to share with the class. However, he could never remember what was covered in the previous class so he would reteach the same thing over and over. His test questions hardly correlate to his lectures, which made them difficult(you really aren't given anything to study). Doesn't follow syllabus.

Comment:
This professor was just awful. He's incredibly disorganized and gives the same lecture at least 2 times a month. If you want a college "story time" class, take this one; although, his lectures do not correlate with his quizzes. I can't tell you a single thing about Environmental Conservation, but I can tell you all his stories he tells.

He gave the same exact lecture twice with a month in between the occurrences. I think that says enough about his level of interest in teaching, his absent mindedness, lack of organization, and incompetency as a professor.

Dr. Bein is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. He has no sense of organization or class management. His lectures are unrelated to the quizzes and the assigned textbook is useless and unrelated to the class. I have to look up everything online. Do not take any class with Bein unless you have to. It is all busy work and you learn nothing

Dr. Bein is honestly one of the worst teachers I've had. I hate to say that because he is such a nice person but he is extremely disorganized, incompetent with technology, a poor speaker, and generally awkward. What's more, I feel that I learned almost nothing from this class. Unfortunately, I have to recommend that you pass on his courses.

Very disorganized but nice guy. Really knows his stuff about Africa. Goes off on tangents and it takes some getting used to as what is needed for the tests/quizzes. Not the best but not the worst.

Had him for an intense 6 week summer course, and he did NOT make it bearable. Gave a ridiculous amount of homework without time off between 12 quizzes, and had an essay based final in which we couldn't really study for. Powerpoints weren't organized and outdated. Only thing I liked was that there were no real textbooks required.

Overall this was an easy class. Some assignments here and there and quizzes pretty often, but nothing was difficult. I didn't even use a textbook for the class and still got an A. I would suggest taking the class to anyone for a GPA boost.

I'm a former geog. major. Dr. Bein is the best mentor I've ever had in geography and I've had some good ones. He truly cares about the subject and especially about the students.

If you don't mind doing homework then you'll like Dr. Bein. He's very eccentric, but he's aware of it and he uses it appropriately so that it doesn't distract from learning.
