She gives great feedback on your assignments, especially if you incorrectly answer the question. I think she is a fair grader. She does offer extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of those. There are a ton of assignments, so be prepared for writing. Honestly, her lectures were more useful than the actual textbook.

The 4 week course had a solid amount of work each week. Grading criteria is very clear and stated in the syllabus. Expect to have writing assignments and discussion boards every 2-4 days. Take advantage of extra credit and the "optional" assignments. If you do all of the optional assignments, you will get an A without needing to take the final exam

I took a 4-week course, and the class was very straightforward. You have 2-4 days to complete a module that consists of lecture videos, a discussion board, a writing assignment, and extra credit opportunities. There are two exams, and you must use your notes from the lectures. Don't procrastinate on the writing assignments. Get partial credit.

Very accessible outside of class. Really wants you to engage with and learn about history, and pretty knowledgeable and professional. However, lots of busywork that she just grades for completion, so honestly you're best not spending too much time on it. Big final essay and project. Good, but more work time than my other 5 classes combined.

Great class She was always there to help with assignments when I had questions. She lets you do these other assignments if you don't turn something in on time. She wants you to do well in the class. Lots of reminder emails too to help stay on track.

If you love to read, write and take tests then this class is for you. I got a "C" but that was due to me not being fully engaged in the class. I could of got a "B" with a tick more effort.

I thought the class would be extremely difficult because it was an honors section. However, it was not what I expected. Professor was always present and easy to approach when you have a problem in class. She encouraged us not to overthink about the difficulty of the work, but to enjoy and have fun with the learning and experience we are gaining.

I took Professor Manley's 4 week intersession course. Her grading scale is through a point system with many opportunities of extra credit. I would say this course is impossible to fail unless you choose to. She gives clear instructions and good feedback. One of the only courses that motivated me to learn instead of just working for a grade.

Professor Manley is great. she really flexible with all assignment as long you contact her. She gives good feedback with each and every assignment. Fair work load, you should fine if you stay on top of your work, she have us do voice thread is great to keep students engaged toward one another. Overall, she really help students succeed.

We went online only due to the pandemic. Professor Manley is so caring toward her students, she will respond to you right away. Quick grader, gives good feedback as well, all her assignment are really interesting and engaging. If you love history this class is for definitely for you. Home work are pretty decent amount but don't be procrastinator.

I'm a current history major at UCSD & was accepted to UCLA. People like to complain and say her class is too much work; truth is that her classes make you think for yourself. If you want to do well in upper-division, take her classes. If not, keep complaining & fail. She's genuine and caring. Pay attention to her lectures. Show up for office hours.

This class is easy if you do not procrastinate. Between four to six assignments every week, but pretty easy and straight forward. A lot of reading and analyzing documents but they are interesting. The people saying that this class is difficult are the ones who procrastinate. Get work done early and you won't have to stress for the rest of the week.

Patricia Manley is by far one the most amazing people I have met let alone professor. She exceed expectations and puts her best foot forward with each of her students. Since the pandemic she has become even more of an outstanding individual that I find myself lucky to have met. If you are in need of a history professors please do take her.

took her for hist109. very strict, if you do not follow her rules to a T she will be kinda rude to you in front of the whole class. most quizzes are group & the entire class is writing based. she emphasizes the 3 textbooks she makes you buy but only one is useful. attendance is very important and she's catty if you're absent/late
