Comment:
Yes, it was a lot of material. But any seasoned college student should know how to strategize their reading. The material was incredibly insightful, & we had excellent discussions. Dr. Hill was very knowledgable & explicitly encouraged students to share their thoughts, even if their opinions differed from his. He is a great professor & human being.

Dr. Hill was honestly one of the best professors I have had. He cares deeply about the world, his students, and the material he teaches which is why he has high expectations of performance in his class. He has a vast amount of knowledge to share and if you listen to what he is saying and do the work he assigns, you will grow as a student and person

I came into the class expecting to work hard. I think that this would be the right mentality to have if you take his class. Even though there was a fair amount of reading and writing, my world view really did change and I loved the actual material he taught. He expects you to work hard and if youre willing to do so, you will do well and learn lots

Dr. Hill instructs his class as a forum. He acts that students read the material (which is not difficult) for class, so the entire class can participate in a group discussion. He let's all student give their perspective. He values all his students and is a professor that you will remember. He is honest and a caring person as well a professor.

Dr. Hill assigns 1 quiz per class. He expects his students to work a lot and assigns more homework than the normal class. There were 2 papers which totaled to about 60% of your entire grade. He is very nice and easily to get ahold of but this class is extremely difficult. Be prepared for your GPA to drop. Textbooks are a must in his class.

Dr. Hill is tough, but he wants his students to succeed. He changed the way he lectured in class part way part way through and it was beneficial. Before taking quizzes, he opted to discuss the material rather than after as he did prior. I do believe the HW load is unrealistic for a 3 credit class though. He means well, id kind, and he is open.

It is not an enjoyable class with long lectures and excessive homework. There's a lack of clarity at times with where the focus is at. He has a very serious tone all the time. The class did explore topics well, but I didn't enjoy the journey at all.

Just agree with what his opinions are and move on. This is not a time in your life to show that you have a different opinion this is a time to say yes wow you are right. Far to much reading involved in all of his classes. He is no where to be found for assistant and if you get a chance to talk to him he will tell you to reread.

This class would have been remotely okay if you weren't drowning in homework. Does he realize we have other classes? And for spring break we got to read 10 hours worth of homework and had a quiz on it the day we got back. This classes homework load ruins the class entirely (and the material is very depressing).

People either love Dr. Hill or hate him. I hated him freshman year. Now I actually enjoy his class. There is a lot of reading - especially for honors - and the papers are intense. But he's good at getting you to think about things and challenge your beliefs. If you want help from him, you just have to ask. Not a professor for the faint hearted

At no point was he helpful and if you don't think like he does then you will fail. Extensive reading is required. Unfortunately I found the reading did not help my quiz grades. He is the type of person you just say what he wants to hear and you will possibly pass. Overall the school would be wise to terminate his employment.

I spent most of the semester wondering if he was trying to kill us with the amount of reading we had to do. It's hard to follow where he's going at first with in-class discussions. Tough on grading, but he has a soft spot for certain things. Don't take his classes for an easy credit, and expect to walk away changed.

I learned A LOT from this class, changed my views actually, it's true he DOES have a strong set of beliefs but he won't punish the smart people for not agreeing with him. SO don't be stupid, read the material and form good arguments around your beliefs and you're golden! Take this class and you'll get a lot out of it :)

Avoid this teacher, he needs to retire and stop teaching. His methods are outdated and can't reach the younger generation any more. Find someone else for english.

He is the worst teacher I ever had for any humanities class. He just likes to hear only ideas that he teaches. He grades students as if they are professor that have been teaching for years. This guy sucks. If you can take someone else!

While I heard comments from classmates that Mr. Hill only wanted his opinions regurgitated at him, I disagreed with him all the time, and somehow managed to pass the class. Your mileage may vary, of course.

An amazing class and an amazing professor. Hill is a man that is very thoughtful and kind. He challenges students do consider things they may not have before and take an honest look at why they believe the things that they do. A brilliant man and I'm thankful to have had two classes with him.

If you pander to his ideas you will do better then if you think for yourself. Worst teacher in my undergrad degree. He co-taught this class. Every paper he graded I got a D, every paper the other teacher graded I got a B. Useless class taught by a useless coward of a human being.

One of the best professors at this school. He is very intelligent and is extremely open to ideas and comments from students. He is fair and accepting during class discussions, which he has often, and you learn a lot about the people in your class. I would definitely taking any course with Hill as I have taken two and enjoyed them immensely.
