Only take him if you have to. There is an essay due every week. And a test every 2-3 weeks. Hard on deadlines. Class is pretty easy you have to teach yourself if you really want to learn something. the essays are based on youtube videos but sometimes the videos are fun and other times we have to watch someone else lecture for over 40 mins

There was an exam every week, the exams were based on chapter readings and YouTube videos from a different college. You also had to respond to the YouTube video lectures. The professor had an attitude and classes were never held. The grading criteria was not clear. Just be prepared to teach yourself.

I took his class while distance learning and I am sad to say that it wasn't great! I was so excited about this class but he was not as understanding as a professor should be during a pandemic. We didn't meet through zoom at all and we just took notes on youtube videos. So basically there wasn't much "instruction" and the way he graded was... messy.

Taken online. Lectures are YouTube videos from a different college. Grading system is unclear. Exams every unit. Is not understanding, whether or not something happens in your life you are expected to do your work. Didnt expect this class to be such a hustle.

Took this course during distance learning, so it was difficult to communicate as is with the professor. We had no virtual lectures with him, only youtube videos by another instructor. Unclear grading criteria for assignments. I tried to explain to him by email that I was having computer problems with an exam on BB but he could care less about it.

Digusting attitude, tried to give me 3s on every assignment unless confronted about his unfair grading policy, has called my attempts at confronting him useless and stupid. Lousy grader. Doesnt even teach, he uses other professors lectures and that isnt professional at all.

The WORST professor at CCNY. Awful professor with awful attitude. Never taught class but instead uses a different professors recorded lecture and you will not learn at all. Do NOT take this class!! This class is not worth your tuition

One of my favorite professors! He is very nice. There is a required textbook that you need to purchase in order to pass the class. The tests are based heavily on the reading. Attendance and participation count!

I loved him. He is very strict, but he would respect you if you participate and respect his rules which include no phone, no taking, no bathroom unless you have to, no latness. I learned a lot about world music. There is a lot of history talkes which I loved. One MC Mid and MC final, a long paper based on a concert you must attend. Reading provided

The class was harder than I expected. You have to buy a ticket and visit a concert for paper. As for tests, you need to remember many difficult terms and names, songs. Professor really cares about you being on time/attendance; if you are late, he marks you as absent. Tons of notes to write; they are part of your grade. Professor is kind, organized.

You are required to purchase a tkt to go see a classical concert that is NOT $25. Lectures are boring but if you take notes, you will pass. If you are late, you are marked absent. Grades come from a midterm, take home final, writing about classical concert, and collecting your notebook at end of semester. I fell asleep all the time & got an A- .

Difficult exams and assignments, but very fair in grading. Many quizzes to make up your grade in case you are following behind. Reading and listening is tough and very important for the tests. He is very open and friendly with students.

Professor was very boring; gave lectures ea class that weren't interesting. Plus side: no group work. REQUIRED to buy a classical music concert tkt that is $50 and up minus tax. Attendance is necessary; 1 late1 absence. Take good notes & you'll pass. 2 tests that are fairly easy (midterm/final) and concert review. Prof does NOT like phones out

He can be strict, but pretty reasonable. I LOVE music, so I really enjoyed his class. He showed documentaries, gave pretty cool assignments, and introduced me to so many artists. He's very serious and knowledgeable about music (probably because he's established and is even an author), but he's very difficult if you really WANT to do the work.

Pros: Professor Piza is extremely caring and he makes music sound very interesting, there are a few tests: 1 is a midterm which is focused mostly on 2 chapters only and a final which is part take home and part listening. TBH you dont have to torture yourself with studying as he is extremely lenient about grading. Con: could'v covered more countrys
