Wonderful teacher, if you write down every note in class. He gives you all the information you need and gives you a practice test before each test. He allows a blank page of notes so make a good study sheet and you should make a great grade. Awesome man and truly cares about each student. Study and you can get an A! I recommend study groups!

The worst teacher I have ever had. Started class early and gave vital info during that time. Missed one small part of a question on test and took off 16 pts for it. Was constantly contradicting himself in class.

Calculus 2 with Steve Smith requires a LOT of time if you want to do well in it. He is very nice and often quite funny, but he is a very difficult teacher.

Dr. Smith doesn't hold your hand through the class, but he is an easy teacher if you do the homework and read the book yourself. He never grades your homework either. Just go to his office if you have problems becuase he makes alot more sense in there than in the classroom!

I came into Calc 2 with a 5 on the AP Calc AB test, and I found this class extremely difficult. Dr. Smith is very hard to follow and he often seems to even confuse himself. He is a nice guy but not a great teacher. His tests at least follow the study guide however, so if you study them hard enough you might make it.

This is probably the hardest class I will ever have to take. He is constantly making mistakes on the board, and confusing himself. I learned more from math videos on youtube than I did in class.

If there is a worse teacher, I've yet to see it. He would do a whole problem on the board and the students would have to correct him every day. He is a nice guy but not such a good teacher. It's very very sad that he is head of HU's math department.

He's a great guy, and very willing to help one on one after class, but during class it is very hard to learn from him because he is always jumping around to different problems, never finishes problems, and he is getting old, and he constantly makes simple mistakes. Just be sure to do your homework every night and dont be afraid to ask him for help.

Dr. Smith was a good teacher. I spent a *lot* of time in his office and he was always willing to help me. And he would work with me until I understood where I was lacking. A genuinely caring teacher.

he is not very good at explaining and can actually confuse you sometimes. he is getting older so sometimes he actually confuses himself which doesn't help at all. make sure and go to class though because you will miss a lot in one class period

Be prepared to spend a lot of time on this class if you want to do well. Otherwise, just take your hit and move on. I didn't feel like I learned very much at all in the class and he constantly made simple math mistakes when working examples which becomes frustrating very quickly. Dr. Smith is a very nice man, but not the best prof. in my opinion.

This is a difficult class. Dr. Smith's explanations are not always the clearest, but he will explain the material multiple times and is willing to give individual help as well. Work hard and you'll do fine.

His class can be tough, especially if you sit in the back. He knows the meaning of humor, and enjoys teaching. He is a good prof, but be sure to sit at the front of the class.

I was always late for his class (seeing as it was at 8AM every day). Often times, his lecture was way over my head, but with a lot of determination, I managed to pull of an A. He has a very reasonable grading scale.
