Terrible, terrible prof. He has zero lecture notes, zero organization, has no direction in his lectures. He harps on and on about needing to take good notes in lectures (because he doesn't post ANYTHING online) but routinely spells names wrong and even mixes things up completely and he won't notice until the next class , if ever, but will be tested

Just don't. Worst teacher. No outlines, no power-points, no structure. He says what he wants, rants basically and his tests are way too hard for what he is teaching. I get almost all As and I struggled to get a C-

Interesting class and lectures. Not an easy class. Three 50 point multiple choice tests are given. No extra credit. Make time to study. Must memorize key terms from book and lecture. Sometimes there will be a question on test not in either. Email T.A. ahead of time if you don't understand something. Utilize online notecards at StudyBlue, etc.

Fun teacher who is genuinely interested in the material and conducts engaging and interesting lectures. unfortunately tests are overly difficult and tend to draw from random lecture facts over the book, and memorization of aspects of hominins is annoying and tedious. tl;dr great class with awful assessment.

Love it! Yes, he goes off into a detailed story at times but the devil is in the detail. Gave excellent first-hand accounts of the nature of anthropology.

I found this class to be so interesting! He doesn't even use lecture notes, he just knows it. He does disagree with other anthropologists at times but he has reason to and supports it with evidence. You DO have to read the book and you ONLY are graded on tests. There are no assignment (this sucks because it makes it harder to get an A).

Very bad professor. Instead of teaching, he tells stories venting about how a lot of anthropologists are wrong, and how he is write. Teaches his bias on certain topics. The information he gives in lectures contradicts the info in the book, and on the internet. I would not recommend this Prof to anybody.

I had a bad experience. While I enjoyed his rambling anecdotes they often seemed off-topic. Lectures seemed unrelated to readings, semmed disorganized; I studied for the tests and still only received C's (I'm usually an A or B student.) Subject matter was interesting, class structure was awful.

I came into this class excited to learn and while I did learn SOME material, I had a VERY hard time in his class. His TA was rude and discourteous, and Brauner did not show any interest in helping me, even when asked. The tests were confusing and I finished the term with a terrible and frustrating experience.

This class was awesome! what people call rambling I call interesting stories. His TA taught a lot of classes, she tended to have a more structured lecture but this whole class was amazing. He rarely has any lecture slides or notes but I found it easy to take notes. They have been making changes to the class so its probably more organized now.

I've taken a couple classes from him now- generally easy but they can be really boring and hard to go to. It'll take him two weeks to go over one basic topic or get to an assignment because he rambles so much. You do have to read from the text- he doesn't go over a lot of it in class. assignments are easy, tests can be confusing.

Dr. Brauner is not only an amazing storyteller, but he really cares about his students. He wants everyone to succeed and be passionate about something, even if it is not historic archeology. Amazing experience, I recommend a field season for anyone remotely interested!

This class was really interesting and made historical arch. interesting. I loved the books that were assigned. I thought the tests were fairly easy, but I also attended almost every class. His tests don't grill you, they let you tell what you know. Awesome stories, it's nice to hear about actual experiences it makes it more interesting. Great prof!

Very easy going guy, lots of fun to listen to his storytelling. If you're an anth major take at least one class of his, he really likes teaching and is probably the best professor all around in the department.

By far one of my favorite classes. I almost considered changing my major to Anthro after his class. Dr. Brauner has great stories and lectures in terms that you can understand. Read the book. Go to the lectures and you will do well. Even though I only got a B, I was happy with that considering my work load. I still learned so much.
