Although he wasn't the best professor, I really enjoyed the course. Really knowledgable and talks about interesting topics, but he's so quiet you can barely hear him even in the front row! Everything is textbook based so lectures are kind of pointless, but they're always interesting so if you're interested in sociology you should show up!

Painful. He's a mumbler and hard to hear. The exams are based entirely on the txt so attending class is really unneccessary. To top it off he wears the same gross sweatpants every single week. Marks fairly I suppose, but the notes he makes on your assignments are completely illegible.

Oh heeeeell no. Thank god he is finally retiring. If I had to take another class with this man, I'd quit school. He blames the school for not being able to teach his students. I call bull.

John has a lot of knowledge but he doesn't know how to teach it, really. He talks very quietly and mumbles and goes off on tangents for periods of 20 mins. He tries, but it's so painful to sit through. Tough marker.

Ugh.. Rambles on in a 3 hour lecture/seminar, notes are all online and encourages us to check that out rather than writing out own. 10 page research essay for first year course, that's a little ridiculous. VERY quiet and trails off in thought quite often. Would hate to have him again.

Oh John. As a major, I've taken a few of his classes. His lectures are completely hopeless, but there's something endearing about him. Marks fairly, and his tests aren't bad. It's hard to take notes in his class because he never manages to complete a full thought. He bumbles through unrelated material and leaves you wondering what the point was.

Awkward at times and a little boring, but I generally enjoyed the class. His ideas were clear and presented in a logical fashion. The essay was kind of unreasonable for a first year class (9 pages), but he didn?t have high expectations and marked fairly lightly. All his exam questions were multiple choice and directly from the text book.

Ok, I am not a soci major, but having John makes me happy that I am not a soci major. VERY BORING class!!! I would much rather have root canal or some kind of extensive surgery than have to go through another year sociology with him.

Are you people kidding? John is useless. I had him for Stats - he taught nothing. If you wanted to pass the course you would have to teach yourself from the text. He was disorganized and not at all helpful. Plus, he would go off on completely unrelated (and boring) tangents.

Very smart, nice guy. Not the most organized person ever though. Not too clear on assignments, and a 10 page reseach paper?! GAH! very flexible with duedates though, not uptight at all. Would be really interesting to talk to as he knows so much about so many things. Not a great teacher though, when you're trying to get a good grade.

John is great. The man has extensive knowledge on a broad array of topics and is a very interesting person to talk to. His lectures are interesting and provoke thought. He is always willing to help. However, he is prone to digressing and is not organized or particularly clear. Very laid back which is cool. Overall, John is a great professor.

John is a great instructor. He has captivating lectures, interesting topics, and interesting opinions. For tests just learn the stuff by doing the readings and looking at the review sheet he has and things will go well. He really doesn’t expect much. I agree that he is very, very unorganized, but he is just a laid back person.
