I took HST 202 with him and this class was entirely online. The layout was clear from the start and the grading was fair. My only complaint with this class was that the criteria for an A+ is 99% like what is that. Other than that I found this class very straightforward and easy to get a good grade in if you put in the work.

Took this class for a credit requirement but stayed for the company. Made me work for that pre-rec. Engaged teacher who truly cares. Interesting classes and great examples during lectures. Tests correspond with quiz and quiz correspond with reading. All in all, show up, listen, do the reading and youll pass with flying colors.

Professor Escobar is so far my favorite history teacher Ive ever had. He is super knowledgeable and is not opinionated at all. He hasnt missed a day of class for the last 21 years so dont miss class. He knows is facts his lectures give you a bunch more info then the history books will. Guaranteed will take him again!

Mr. Escobar has been absolutely the best instructor Ive ever had. His lectures are amazing - a combination of videos, images and notes. Its all packaged into a perfect way to understand history. I took him for three terms in a row it was that good. A few pointers, do the quizzes and forum posts - and show up. Wonderful experience.

Not an easy teacher by any stretch of the imagination, but certainly caring and ready to help in any way he can. There is a lot of homework and studying to do, but if you put in the time you'll get an A. Always go and talk to him after taking a test, sometimes he is willing to give back points.

Great lecturer, very easy to take notes from. Lots of textbook reading. Beware the forums. Just make the required amount of posts as quickly as possible. Overall a great teacher, really knows his subject, and wants you to succeed.

Very intelligent in terms of historical knowledge. He's passionate about history and the way he gives lectures are highly visual which make the tests easier. He'll often refer to the political spectrum which makes it easier to remember the differences in many U.S. Presidents. Take his class if you need and more honest view of U.S. history.

Joe is a real gem at LCC. His lectures are energetic, packed full of compelling information which makes the class period fly by. What's more is that his information is clearly organized and highly visual, making it all a breeze to remember and recall for the tests. Attendance is a must and so is reading the text book.

Joe made his everything about this class exceptionally clear. There is a decent amount of reading, but his quiz system is great and the tests make sense. You do have to KNOW the text, though. You gotta work for it-- but it's never confusing as to what you should study. I love this guy. Only qualm with it (I took the hybrid) was the forums.

Joe made history 100X more interesting which was nice because it is not my favorite subject. This class is definitely not an easy A if that is what you are looking for but it is worth your time if you want to learn a lot about history. He is passionate about history and making sure you succeed!

Joe gives incredible lectures. He knows his subject well, and clearly is passionate about it too. He also knows his audience, and does a great job at keeping his students interested while still conveying the material clearly. If you're hesitant with history, I highly recommend taking a class with Joe. He will inspire you.

Joe is a very hard grader, and is extremely lecture heavy. You have to read so much to survive in this class. Would not recommend unless you're passionate about history, he does not like to have fun.

This class is a little work intensive, but Joe is very willing to help. I had some difficulty with forums but would simply moodle message him in which he would respond extremely fast with great feedback. He uses every minute of lecture, and it's mandatory you go to class. I would take him again!

Based on other reviews, it seems like Joe works best in actual class settings. I took his History of the Civil War class online. It was OK, but I wouldn't take another from him. You have to earn your grade, so be prepared to take detailed notes of the sources, read your textbook, and post on the forums more than twice a week.

Joe Escobar is clearly a teacher who cares about his subject. His classes are work-intensive, but fascinating if you have an interest for the subject. I was rarely bored in his class, as he manages to incorporate a good variety of work. If you show that you care about the material, and make an effort to succeed, he will have no problem helping you.

This class is prepared for students who is interested in history major. The professor is helpful, but the lectures that he give are overloading. Even you don't have to memorize the dates, you're required to remeber the images and videos. Extremely tough tests, easy C-F grade.
