Do not waste your time taking any of her courses. She is the worst professor I've ever encountered. Truly do not know how she got a license to teach. She's unprofessional, unorganized, has a lack of self awareness, and is always inappropriate. She never knows what is going on in any of her classes. Gave her a 1 because you cannot grade lower.

She is a very nice person and great to talk to, but she is a hard professor. The exams are super easy (all online and can use notes) but there is a lot of homework. She is also a very harsh grader, she always has something negative to say/something you can change.

She is the absolute worst. Always criticizing student's projects and not in a constructive way. Self-absorbed. Should be removed from the program as a professor. Inconsistent. Unorganized. Surprised students even still take her class, maybe only because they are mandatory.

She is very all over the place. Directions are super unclear and shell go back on things she says or not remember things she says. I overall got good grades because she liked my design aesthetic, but for others whose style she didnt like, they consistently cot Cs and Ds even though they were putting in a lot of effort. Strongly dont recommend

For an instructor whose field of study is art, Alex is very strict on what she wants your designs to look like. She does not appreciate when others stray away from her specific style - which I would say would be the biggest downfall of Alex being the instructor for this creative course. Otherwise, she does help you learn techniques to improve.

Very unclear with her projects, never seems to have anything planned out. Instead of teaching clear methods and techniques, she teaches more on using emotion/gesture. I never really learned anything, and was really behind when I entered Drawing 2. Oh, and if you take drawing 2 with her (not recommended) She teaches the same lessons from drawing 1.

This class was abysmal. We had a total of one real project and she ended up changing it once we were close to completing it. Her teaching strategies just weren't for me, and I really do feel like I learned almost nothing. So glad I had a different teacher for Drawing 2. She treated us like first graders and infantilized our work.

I like Alex as a person but as a professional she needs a lot of work. For an entire semester she told me I was getting the hang of it & kept getting excited about my improvements. The things she handed back had A's on them but when I received my transcript she gave me a "C" and had no justification for it. Be prepared 2 not know your grade I guess

Alex is a very relaxed professor who avoids formalities. She does care about her students' art and personal well being (she sent me home from class because she knew I was sick and didn't want me pushing it). Even though my drawing style differs from what she teaches I try what she instructs and I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

I had Alex for Drawing I. During the class I did not understand SO many of the things she made us do, but now applying it to drawing or anything art related, I realized how much I learned from her in this class. She is very "zen-like" which makes the class calm, as well as your drawings. I recommend Alex for Drawing I.

Interesting method of teaching, lots of work outside the class and gets very upset if you don't do your work. She loves to draw and wants you to love it too, that's why I think she gets kind of intense. I learned a lot from her though...don't skip class especially if you want an A. She knows her art and is genuinely interested in her students.
