Comment:
Dr. Davis is very clear and precise with his expectations and the tests are fair. The class has a slow, steady pace for all learners to keep up. If you don't go to class you will fall behind and since the content builds on previous content it will be hard to catch up. If you keep up reasonably well with the course content and hmwk you will do well.

There's weekly homework but you can redo it until it's perfect & he makes your lowest test mark the smallest percentage. Daily pop quiz (random student # has to hand in). I tried taking this stats course in second year and he's so incapable of teaching the content that I had to drop it and take it online (which was 10x easier and more easy to grasp). I remember on one of the tests he wrote he asked us a question about an eagle that was completely irrelevant apart from that he showed us a random video in class 1 day.

Dr. Davis is a very smart professor - however sometimes has difficulty explaining to students at an undergraduate level. FOLLOW THE TEXTBOOK - start at the beginning and continue your reading. You will not pass the class if you start to try second semester. Gives lots of opportunities to get easy grades - stay up to date and you'll breeze through.

Lost of hard work but it pays off in the end. The material is kinda dry, but Dr. Davis does what he can with it. He lays out, crystal clear, how to be successful right at the beginning of the school year. I followed his instructions to the letter and it was the best mark I have ever received in university.

I didn't really attend classes with Dr. Davis, only because I had a pretty decent understanding of the course content. He takes the classes slow and covers all of the basics in order to be accessible to all of his students. It's very important to read the textbook in this class, as it will help with homework assignments and studying for tests.

Didn't go to a single class exceot the first one and midterm days, taught myself everything out of the textbook and I'm not a math/stats person. Announced on the very first day that he basically just reads from the textbook. Tests are fair and there are no tricks

One of the best profs at LU! Such a wonderful man if you take the time to talk with him. If you go to class, read, and pay attention you will do well. He is very fair and has set up the class in a way that makes it very hard to fail if you put in a reasonable amount effort.

Comment:
Dr. Davis starts his class by being intimidating and saying "1 in 4 of you will fail this course". He takes his stats way to seriously, and seems like he his trying to belittle students confidence. It would be easier to pay attention if he spoke with some enthusiasm. He knows whats hes talking about, but not to teach it. Textbook is very helpful.

Smart man and good worker. He will push you to produce a good thesis/dissertation. He can be really passive-aggressive with his students, though. He doesn't not like to be challenged.

Prof has a lot of knowledge in his area, but is not very good at teaching it. He is not very helpful, and I learned more just by reading the book than I did when I actually attended a lecture or two. Honestly, probably my least favourite prof yet.

Dr. Davis obviously knows what he's talking about, but he doesn't know how to articulate it well. I find it more useful NOT going to class and just learning the material from the textbook on my own. He has 11 assignments and 11 labs throughout the year, and those are probably the only things keeping my grade afloat.

I've never had a professor that actually avoided all topics relevant to the course, refused to answer questions, and was so ridiculously useless in my life.

Very good prof. Works slow through everything so its easy. Also uses practical examples. If you go to all labs and write the exams its impossible to fail. The tests cover terms that are highlighted in the book as well as the math problems. The assignments are easy as well. But too slow for me, should be half year not full. But he is great.

So other comments look pretty favourable but I have one thing that irks me seperate from lecture material, whole other story. The hand-in grace period is strict! I couldn't help coming late to class to hand in my assignment,&could not do a make-up. Someone came late to class to hand theirs in at the front and davis embarrasedher in front of class!

to put it in perspective of how much the textbook can help: I NEVER attended the lectures because it was so easy to zone out and come back confused. I taught this all to myself from the textbook and workbook. With that and the lab/homework assignment portion i ended up with a 73%... now if I attended class. i wonder what that would have been...

If stats isn't your "cup of tea", then I'd recommend to go to class every single time. You can easily fall behind and that is where people struggle. The prof is clear and answers all questions. Very approachable and intelligent! Good luck to all

Awsome prof, kept statistics very simple, no surprise questions on the tests. If you actually read the whole textbook and go to his lectures you should do fine.
