Truly cares about the work and his students. His testing is different from most other professors, so you just have to adjust to what he's asking of you. His lectures kept me on my toes, and were intellectually challenging but he never moved on if people were confused. If you like Biopsych, take this course. He is truly so great.

Dr. Hawk is a very funny and personable individual however his tests are incredibly difficult. The slides he provides are not only confusing but extremely vague, even if you are using them for a skeleton outline. Unfortunately, as much as I like him as a person, this class is extremely difficult and the majority of your grade is reliant on 4 tests.

Dr. Hawk is truly one of the best professors that I have had at UB. I didn't do so hot in Psychophysiology (my own fault), but he gives outstanding lectures and although the readings suck, he acknowledges this and evaluates accordingly. He also devotes whatever time/energy he has to make sure his students are learning. great guy, highly recommend

I love Dr. Hawk! He is an amazing professor & cares so much about his students. I loved going to his lectures before COVID took over. On the flipside, his lecture slides are confusing and if you don't read the textbook, you won't understand the material. This class has me hanging on by a thread, but I would recommend taking any class with Dr. Hawk.

Dr. Hawk is one of those professors who truly cares about his students and will never fail to show that. Hes always so positive regardless of any inconveniences. Im failing this course pretty darn bad but there is literally nothing bad that I could say about him. He does everything right and teaches the topics at an excellent pace.

I took his class during the summer. All I can say is that he is an amazing and well-respected Prof! In order to do well in his class, you need to skim the textbook before class. It helps in understanding his slides. His slides are NOT for studying. You need to annotate according to his explanation. Good module to take for research. Very funny prof.

Hes an amazing prof ! I did horrible for a subject of the same nature which is very neuroscience driven and so much anatomy and processes to learn but with Prof Hawk, he motivates you to learn more. The good part is you can find him after class and clear all doubts but you must read the textbook before you can clear your doubt.

Dr. Hawk is a very kind and intelligent man who will often use vulgar language to get his point across in an effective and humorous way. However, he goes way too fast with his notes and his PowerPoint slides have nothing to do with his tests at all. However hes very lenient as there are multiple extra credit opportunites throughout the semester.

I liked Dr. Hawk and everything but I agree, his notes are awful. He tends to go way too fast when reading off his slides. However, you can still manage to get a B without really trying. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. He is also very helpful and approachable during office hours.

He is really funny guy, but his notes are horrible. I did really bad on his first two test because I could not understand the notes I took in class and I hate reading textbooks. But if you can get notes from another psy 101 class than test are easy. Take him because he ends up giving a lot of extra credit and no paper.

Hawk is by far one of the best professors I have taken at UB. His lectures are interesting and 20% of your grade is dependent on TopHat attendance and questions. The other 80% are 4 non-cumulative exams, they're fine as long as you read the text. He gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit and is extremely nice and helpful in his office hours.

Larry Hawk is a great professor. He tries his best to make everyone do well. He gives automatic extra credit for attendance and tophat answers, and for doing extra psych studies +3 pts on average. Pay attention in lectures and skim the textbook and this class is very easy. Tests are very fair and not cumulative. No final.

Dr Hawk is extremely dedicated in his teaching, did go the extra mile by bringing psychophysiological equipment to class just for his students to get hands-on learning experience as well. He is sincere, patient and explains concepts clearly. Tests are fair, but also challenging. Genuine guy to learn from, take his class!

Prof Hawk really puts in more effort than any other professor to ensure that you get a full learning experience with equipment instead of just the typical lecture. He answers question and queries immediately but is rather busy with research so it may take longer for him to reply.

Dr. Hawk was a pretty great guy who spent time during consult giving me advice on the various paths I could take after my undergrad degree. He also brought along quite a sizeable amount of equipment just so we could have a feel of psychophysio methods. He seems pretty busy outside of class, so don't expect him to answer your questions/emails!

Super funny guy. Overall class was pretty easy. Show up to lecture bc tophat questions/attendance, skim the textbook and you'll get at least a B if not an A. I made flashcards for all tests which helped a lot. He's a super fair grader and gives loads of extra credit. Genuinely wants you to do well. BTW don't buy mypsychlab huge waste of money

Professor Hawk makes the students truly earn their grade. He makes sure grading is fair, especially for participation. I've never met a teacher who truly wanted students to make sure they were earning their attendance grade. Personally, the top hat was my favorite because it's worth 20% of your grade. He is just an amazing professor!

Professor Hawk was the best professor I had this semester. His lectures were fun, and he was always open to students who needed his help. He tries hard to help relate his teachings to everyday life, and I think he does a terrific job of it. His exams are only "hard" if you don't study, but I didn't study for one of them and I still got an 85 on it.

Dr. Hawk was amazing. He is so funny and was able to keep my attention for the entire lecture. My best advice for this class: MAKE A TON OF FLASHCARDS. It worked beautifully for me. His exams are based primarily off the textbook so if you drift off in class it won't be a big deal. Be mindful of "Tophat" however
