EASY TESTS. In lecture, he really emphasizes the intuition of what he is teaching making sure that if you don't remember a formula you at least understand where it comes from so you can derive it. His homework is very hard, but you will get an A if you do it. Also, the man is drippin with style point out his basketball shoes he will blush.

Math 137 is a tough course, as it is worth 5 credits. There's quite a bit of homework as well as 3 midterms, but I believe Yen set up the course to help you succeed. Each midterm had a review quiz before it, which really helped. His lectures were pretty straightforward as well. If you dedicate time to the course, you'll do well.

I had to teach myself EVERYTHING. Chou didn't teach us at all. He just posted youtube videos of different professors teaching a class the material we were learning. It was very hard to learn from those. I submitted the first assignment a week early and he never told me I did it wrong. Just graded it, didn't explain and didn't let me redo it.

The way that this class is set up is amazing. Yes there can be a lot of hw but its worth it. He gives short quizzes and long review quizzes. When it comes to tests, he gives you 10 questions and you get to pick 5 questions that you want to do and submit. Test and Quiz questions are straight from hw. He is a fast grader. Yen makes it easy to succeed

This was my worst experience in college so far. His videos are extremely low quality. I couldn't understand 50% of what he was saying, like the actual words, let alone the material. I had to teach myself everything. His grading was arbitrary. He would pick two or three random problems from the exams and grade everything based on them. Avoid Yen.

I took Professor Chou for 150 over the summer and his class was a LOT. Maybe because it was over the summer, but the homework took 4 hours every day. I recommend taking some introductory class before or not taking this class over the summer.

Tests are tough but you can only do well if you do the hw. Hw went from mandatory to optional, but your test grade will replace your hw grade so you have to do well. There are WAY too many lectures. It's overwhelming. Amount of hw is crazy. It's like he doesn't care about what his students do outside his class. He can get rude in office hours too.

PROFESSOR YEN IS AMAZING! I strongly recommend taking your maths with him. Yes, there was a lot of homework, but I was taking it in six weeks, so that was expected. He really wants the students to understand and is very passionate and enthusiastic when he is teaching. I was super nervous to take this class (MATH 150), but now Im glad I did!

If you know you struggle with math take the IN PERSON class or make sure a tutor is available to you. I cannot stress that enough. He may be a great teacher, but beware that the online courses have you watch old Algebra videos (I'm talking 90's or early 2000's) and he does not actually teach you at all, but rather supervises the in person exams.

This professors online class is garbage. Had us watch 2 hours of khan academy videos on our own and expect students to dedicate 8-10 HOURS PER DAY during the summer session. No way I can actually understand math through a Khan Academy video. Dropped the class because I know there is no way I can learn through this class.

Yen is simply the best. Yen's lectures and notes are crystal clear. Exams are reasonably challenging and it's doable if you truly earn the materials. If he teaches MATH200, I will be the first one signing up.

The class is based on homework, quizzes with notes, and closed-note, four hour (maximum) exams where we get to drop 2/5 problems. I got an A and worked from 9am-6pm. There are lecture videos we watch to learn the material. Professor Chou is super responsive with emails (even at 11 at night) and he has two hour Zoom sessions each day for questions.

Yen is a wonderful teacher. I really like that he's extremely accessible and always willing to work with his students, going way beyond his office hours! I could say so many positive things. My personal cons stem from his difficulty. He's very lecture heavy and is a tough grader on tests. Very important to do the homework early and ask questions!

This prof is great. Explains things very clearly and if you ask a question he will go above and beyond to answer it. When you need help, he will help. Just ask! Least condescending math prof! He just likes to do Math and is happy to teach. I will be taking him for Calculus in the future. One of the best Math profs at SBCC.

I'm absolutely HORRIBLE in Math and I hadn't taken math for about 4 years so I was super nervous going into intermediate algebra. But professor Chou was the perfect choice! While I spent A LOT of time in the Math lab which helped me, Chou's grading style made it possible to pass the class by doing all HW, attend class and only get C's at the exams

Math is tough for me, but Yen made it as clear as anybody could! Really great guy, gives everything he can to help you succeed + makes class expectations clear. His exams aren't the easiest, but he wants to help you succeed in future math classes. I failed my way through HS math and managed to pass an accelerated summer course w/ his help!

Yen is the man! Took his math150 course over the summer, which I had anticipated to be overwhelming but he explained everything that was expected clearly. If you don't do the HW, you will fall behind. Sometimes lecture can be dull but summer sessions cram a lot of material in little time. He is helpful, especially his practice exams. Great prof!
