Comment:
As far as personalities go, Borchard doesn't have much. He isn't super clear with deadlines and expectations, but he provides pretty good feedback. The class itself isn't hard and doesn't require a lot of work or effort. We only had to write 2 articles, so that meant that our grades relied on only a couple of assignments. Textbook unnecessary.

JOUR 413 with Borchard was great! Interesting information and only consisted of 2 exams and 2 book reviews. Attendance was not mandatory but encouraged. I took the class online due to the pandemic. Go over the study guides and review end of chapter questions and the tests are easy As. I am a Com major and took this for upper-division elective

Open book test at the beginning of the semester, buy the online book you'll be fine. He'll post a study guide. 2 Articles due at the end of the semester, 3 pages each for drafts. Tough grader on the drafts but gives good feedback. Must post them on a blog for final grade, present them in class & tweet about them. He does take attendance. Easy A.

I've had Dr. Borchard for JOUR 310 and 413. He is by far, the quirkiest, most eccentric professor I have ever had, but he is also one of my favorites. He is so passionate about what he teaches it makes class worth coming to. For 413, show up and listen to what he SAYS, study for the tests, and you'll do well.

Dr. Borchard is hands-down the best professor in this journalism school. It is too bad he is leaving for a sabbatical during the spring semester. As far as 413 is concerned: attend lecture, take notes and write in active voice, and youll receive an A.

Dr. Borchard is a really cool guy. Incredibly smart, and will do what he can to help his students. He expects a lot of you, and can grade pretty strictly, but if you put in the time, you'll do really well. Lectures rarely went full-length; most of the work is interviewing and writing. Lots of extra credit opportunity. Good humor. Highly recommended

Borchard was a great professor, very knowledgeable. He does powerpoint lectures that are available online, but you really have to be there in person. A few pop quizzes and a 5-page paper due before finals. The midterm and final was simple but you have to study. Barely used textbook but came in handy for midterm and final.

Borchard KNOWS what he's talking about and teaching. So many students complain about him being a tough grader but if journalism is the field you want to be in, then you are lucky to have Borchard as early as now. Follow the AP style he teaches you and you will ace every assignment. Simple as that. Do the work. Your grade reflects your effort.

JOUR 102 is the hardest class I've had so far. Challenging but fair. He wants students to succeed and expectations that can be met by following instructions. Too many people in class though makes for annoying distractions.

He's a really difficult grader and this is a hard class. He's also very into himself and is disrespectful and rude. He holds his students writing to higher standards than you see in actually published work and is unclear about what he wants on assignments. If you can avoid taking his class do it.

Loved this class. Lectures were engaging and informative. He spoke clearly and provided useful information. A lot of references to historical films. Borchard has a passion for the material, and it helped make sense of otherwise dry subjects.

Greg is seen to be a harsh grader but if anything, he is fair with grading. He states his expectations before every assignment and provides a clear rubric. He is a great professor that truly cares about journalism. Pay attention in discussion and lecture, and stick to your AP style book and you will be fine!

Dr. Borchard is a tough teacher in that he expects results. I find that good because I'm going to be a journalist and I'm going to need to know how to perform as one. His grading system is rigid and tight, errors are not allowed- good foundation, prep and practices for real life.

Powerpoint-driven course.Tests are okay, gives you essay questions prior to the midterm and final. 5 page paper is graded easily, seemed to be used to only help your grade. Quizes are like free points but are a nice piece of your grade. Borchard loves the subject which helped keep me around. Good effort/attendance will get you a B.

Best teacher ever, he truly loves what he does , and tried his best to motivate his students and share his passion for history , I truly enjoy his way of teaching. His classes are a lot of work but he is very fair with his grades and give you bunch of opportunities to earn extra points , so if you go to classes he will reward you for it .
