she uses a textbook for 131 that's the weirdest textbook I've had (but can rent on amazon). tests are straight from end of chapter questions in the book &the review powerpoints she creates but i made quizlets for everything. she is really fair & gave me a 2nd chance when my computer fried during the final & all the gen ed qs were .5 pts &extra cred

If you are a SWK major forget everything you know before walking into this class. You will have to relearn how this prof wants you to know information and most days it will seem backwards towards SWK ethics. Not contestant on grading or notes and no textbook which means if you miss notes your in trouble.

Dr. Smith makes lectures extremely interesting and easy to learn, even for a 9 AM class. You can tell she is extremely knowledgeable in her field. Loves class participation, although not required. Only graded on exams and a few easy online quizzes throughout the year. Gives 10 points in extra credit if you go without missing 4 days! Easy class.

SOC 400 class was very challenging. She does lecture ALOT and grades hard. provides study guides, but the study guides were nothing like the exams. If you miss this class, you will fall behind. She does provide alot of attendance points for attending class on discussion dates. Its very possible to pass the class but you have to work for it.

She is very interesting to talk to but not good at staying on topic. Material is hard and she does not do well teaching it. She's not the worst professor in the department (Dr. Irvin holds that title) but she's not easy either. Expect to work.

This is a 400 level class and she treats it like such. You will either have two 5-7 page term papers or on long 10-14 page term paper due at the end of the semester. The work she gives is important and you will learn SO much from this class. Lectures are essential to passing; skip a class and you will be behind.

I took this class over the Winter term. It was interesting material but a LOT of reading (like 5+ hours per exam). I didn't really listen to her powerpoint presentations, or do any of the modules because it got really redundant but I did read and fill out the study guides. Class was 500 points and she gave 25 bonus, I got an easy A. Read, Read!

Dr. Smith is very intelligent and it is an interesting class. You must always attend class, work very hard, and study study study! It is challenging, but if you work hard you will pass no problem. I learned a lot from this class, but it was definitely stressful at times.

had alot of readings to do and a paper to do at the end of semester with a few tests she gives out study guides but is still sort of unclear of what she is looking for on the tests and tests are essay form the book said one thing and the notes said another and the answer she wanted was somewhere inbetween which was hard to nail down hard grader

The class isn't the most interesting, but it is doable. She is very discussion orientated and likes to relate content to modern examples. No papers. No homework. Suggested reading, but not required. Few "pop" quizzes. Tests are multiple choice and essay, pretty easy if you attend class, take notes, and study. Attendance is taken every meeting.

The first exam is a nightmare!! The study guide when completed is like 30 pages long. She never lets class out early, and talks badly to you if you have to leave early for appt. She does not speak in laymens terms at all. Good luck, you are going to need it.

Sociology is not for me, but she makes the class fun. Her teaching style worked well for me and the tests are straight from the study guide. You may have a pop-quiz but if you listen its super easy. She makes sociology understandable. I loved her!

she is a really sweet and genuine person, but her ways of teaching are beyond me. tests are impossible. you leave her class with no memory of what you just sat through, because she goes off and rambles about nothing. she'll stress you with work and you better be prepared for surprise tests. please dont take her class unless you know sociology well.

It's a large class, but she tries to make time after class to help you. Only a few tests/quizzes so you have to keep your grade up. Keeps you the ENTIRE TIME, will not let you out 1 minute early, but lectures are somewhat helpful because she hands out notes. I would recommend if you're not into attending class.

Nice lady, very smart, but her classes are so time consuming. You will have to read from the text book and at least 2 outside articles a week. She is very unclear about things too. On her study guides and tests she always words things in the most difficult way to understand. Good teacher but I would probably not take her again because she's so hard

Bottom line is that she is a very hard teacher. If you are a lazy student do not take her. I took 2 of her classes with 21 hrs. Big mistake-you could be busy a semester with just 2 of her classes. TONS, and I mean TONS of reading. Tests are full of essays. And she rambles--loves her job just a little too much!

She will make you work hard, but she is am AMAZING teacher. You will learn a lot from just attending class and paying attention. There is a lot of reading but most of the articles are interesting.
