Ali truly is a good man, but his lectures are not for you if you 1) do not love Math 2) don't speak up when you don't understand something. His lectures felt like a family of math nerds coming together and having fun. If you are not a Math nerd and/or shy, you will have a huge problem with him, because he will probably just ignore you.

Absolutely horrible prof. His lectures are just regurgitations proofs that he's known for decades. He would write the proof to a problem, ask if anyone has questions, wait for 3 seconds (not exaggerating), and erase everything. There's no time for students to write down the note or even think of questions.

Hes very rude in approaching- he just goes like I think i have commented on this- at least give a student chance to say their stuff. literally the worst prof- how can he even expect someone to know a question that wasnt gone through in class

When you approach him hes not welcoming at all! The worst prof Ive ever had! The things he even teach are just questions; he doesnt teach the overall concept or the background behind it. The tests and assignments: for more than half of the questions; he literally didnt teach

The worst professor I have had in this university. He expects everyone to teach themselves and gives the image of being a helping and supporting professor, while not being any of those things. He expects us to answer our own questions. Note: I tagged hilarious not because he is funny, but it's funny in general 'why he is still a professor.

His style of teaching is lacking and ineffective and just plain awful. His 'lectures' are nothing more than an incessant barrage of questions and problems which he assigns the students to do in breakout rooms. If you do not already understand the subject there is absolutely no way you'll understand his lectures and even less his class.

Need to attend lectures and tutorials. Even then the course tends to be difficult. There is no 'lecture', Ali just throws questions at you, expecting that you have done the readings. Gets irritated and skips the questions if no one volunteers a solution (due to having no idea what is going on or tired/shy since a 9am), like he thinks it's spite.

He tried to be funny and approachable but I feel like he would only be liked by the more extroverted people in class. I did not enjoy the format where we will be put into breakout rooms (where no one talked). I also did not enjoy being constantly asked to turn on our cameras.

The man actually put a question on his test designed to fail us, just so he could "catch cheaters" He straight up refused to teach. He has not changed from "reverse classroom" despite breakout rooms being dead silent and only 20 of the 160 students showing up to tutorial. I just hope this is a covid thing and he hasn't always been this bad.

Not my prof but I attended his office hours. Not at all helpful and has very high expectations of you. He will tell you to figure things out on your own even if you are stuck and he is condescending. Go ask another prof if you can.

Terrible lectures, Terrible slides, he reads each slide in 10 seconds then assigns a breakout room for 10 min for a question. You will find you know nothing about the content after each lecture. Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible!

Are you a professor that has already obtained 3 degrees? Do you have extensive experience and before-hand knowledge of the course you are taking with him? Have you been studying the most difficult concepts of math your entire life? Yes? Perfect, you'll pass his course with flying colours as he won't teach you anything, but that's fine you're a pro!

You gotta read tons before lectures, and in lecture, he'd rather let students work in groups to solve sample questions than teaching us some real stuff to help us understands the concepts. You are gonna learn on your own.

Terrible. I only attended lectures for participation marks because lectures are in themselves useless. He quizzes you before the lecture, is very condescending, and puts you in breakout rooms to answer questions he didn't teach you how to answer. Expects you to know everything from reading the textbook alone. Does not actually teach anything.

If you're not great at learning things 100% on your own, I wouldn't recommend taking one of his classes. You have to teach yourself pretty much the entire course and he is just there to clarify a thing or two. Enjoy being your own prof! Also found it ridiculous how we would have quizzes on material before we go over it in lecture ...

I took MAT102 back in winter 2020 and had professor Pawliuk (great guy). I thought I'd comment on Ali's office hours which I've attended once (and never again). I asked some questions and I mentioned the Pset. He was suddenly so rude and condescending. He made me feel dumb. I can't comment on his lectures, but in OH he's a whole different person.
