Professor Prude is a great professor! He is extremely intelligent, a great lecturer, and cares about the well-being of his students. Make sure to put effort into the midterm and final since they are the only graded assignments besides participation, and at least skim the readings because he does cold-call. AMHIST285 was an awesome class!

Very hard grader. Graded pretty much only by midterm and final. Final is 2 5 page papers in which pretty much no one will get an A. Lectures can be pretty boring a lot of the time and get very repetitive.

The best class I have ever taken. Prof. Prude managed to make such a boring topic an amazing class that I have genuinely been looking forward to. No regrets choosing this class over major requirements that I was supposed to finish. Although I should note that there is only one midterm and a final, so you can't screw up in one. Highly recommend!

midterm and final are pretty much the entire grade. both are take-home papers and he doesn't give many good or bad grades for either.

Definitely intimidating at first, but legitimately an excellent professor who pushed me to think differently and explore history. Didn't read all the books word for word, but as long as you actively participate in class, write solid essays (there were only 2), and show enthusiasm you should be good.

Prude was intimidating at first, with his Socratic method and NYC bluntness, but after a couple of classes I realized he was just a big softie. He assigns an INSANE amount of reading. It really is crazy, but all of them are very interesting. His lectures are also engaging and he's very funny. He really cares about his students. Take his class!

Professor Prude is actually golden. He's funny and knows what he's talking about, gives interesting lectures, and encourages his students to have their own opinions about the material. He cares about his students and really tries to get to know them. Take his class if you want to learn about American history through dry humor and sarcasm.

Dr. Prude is an amazing professor! I am so glad I took his seminar. He cares so much about his students. He's a little intimidating at first, but don't let it scare you. Honestly, he assigns A LOT of readings; most are very interesting. You can do well if you skim them. The dean of the med school came twice! Graded on participation and 2 papers.

For a freshman seminar, assigned lots of reading (130pgs/week). Very thought provoking, interesting group discussions. Assoc. Dean of Admissions at Med School came for a few classes! Only 2 papers for entire semester. He calls on people randomly, so do the readings. Fun class exploring the history of docs in American history. Put time into papers.

Professor Prude is a hidden gem at Emory. He's got the guise of a curmudgeon who swears in every class, but he's actually a real big softie. History is best told through the lilts of his thick New York accent. He enjoys seeing the class reflect on the material and engages conversation. Take home midterm and final made getting an A pretty simple.

Comment:
Prof. Prude was my mentor for SIRE, the research program. I don't know how he is in class, but he's the kindest, most caring, and helpful prof I've met so far. He is genuinely interested in what his students and advisees have to say. Expects his students to be as sharp-witted as he is, and challenges them to form their own opinions.
