Comment:
He's probably the best choice for CISC106, the class itself is enjoyable as a freshman as long as you make time for the labs and projects. You have to hand write code on tests, but its not that hard if you just do the homework. The multiple choice is a killer though, lots of tricks, so be careful. It's a good class overall.

Great teacher. Easily my favorite class. You've really got to put some work into his class but I thought it was very rewarding.

This class was easy for me since I took AP computer science in high school, but he still teaches the material so that it is understandable. The only tests he gives are the midterm and final. The other grades are from labs and clicker questions. He kind of looks and talks like Adrian Monk from the TV show Monk. He's so nice and loves puzzles!

had a solid B in his class until exams. he has a rule, you can't get more than 1 letter grade higher than your highest exam score. if you fail his midterm and final, but do well in labs, you should pass but he'll give you a D no matter what. don't split up half the work with your lab partner, you need to know everything.

Harder than all the other CISC teachers. Teaches files and databases, instead of turtle like everyone else, and the labs are extremely boring. Definitely a nice guy who knows what he's talking about, but if you're like me and only had to take this class as a major requirement it will seem boring and difficult

Amer is the nicest guy ever who only wants the best for each of his students. He is not at all there to trick you. Do the work, ask questions, try hard, pay attention, and this hard class will actually seem easy in the end. For those who have to take CISC106 please take Amer. He is your best choice!

Prof. Amer is a great teacher. Computer science was required for my major, and I wasn't thrilled about it, but Amer made the class easy to understand and I gre to like that class. He is very clear in explinations and is easy to get ahold of outside cass.

What an amazing teacher. Has a true love for his job unlike any other professor I've ever known. Going to class everyday was a pleasure. Amer is a complete and utter boss. If you are a CS major and don't take him, you are missing out on what the department has to offer.

He's a great teacher, and you will learn a lot in his class. Admittedly, I am interested in programming, which made the class extremely easy for me, but after comparing his assignments to other teachers' I found that his are actually the easiest. He often assigns things before teaching them, but you just need to wait until he teaches it to start.

Great teacher. Probably the best for intro to comp sci for engineers. Clear, takes things a bit slower and a bit easier than the other professors.

He is helpful during class on most days. If you pay attention the labs aren't too bad. They seem really difficult at first but the work for each lab gets easier as you slowly start to understand what is happening. The labs get harder as the class progresses, but he's better than the other 106 professors, at least from what I've heard.

Gets harder as you go along and expects you to read alot and learn concepts on your own even though the book is practically jibberish. Still though, nice and usually helpful when asked questions.

Professor Amer is a good man. He is very thoughtful, very personable, and he truly cares. He cared when I told him I was going through a rough time, and he worried when he saw me lose focus. That means a lot, so it was wonderful to have him as a speaker at my graduation ceremony last year (2006) when I finally graduated.
