Professor Schwebel is very caring and accommodating to students' needs. The classes are lecture-heavy but every single thing she says is interesting and she does a great job explaining everything she teaches. Having her as a prof for my first semester was a great experience. Definitely take a class with her if you can.

From my experience, she grades pretty easy as long as you have something to say and know the material. Readings aren't mandatory but if you're shooting for 100%, use the readings when doing your essays. Very accommodating, super caring, super approachable. If you genuinely take interest in existentialism, you will get a high grade.

lectures are long but very interesting. tutorials are excellent as they provide chance for discussion. paula is very empathetic given the current circumstances, which is always appreciated! the material is excellent, and so were the essay prompts. not an 'easy a', but the lectures and tutorials provide more than enough info for a great mark!

Her lectures were kind of boring and the lectures are mandatory because she does not post all the info on the slides. Her tests are okay but you need to understand certain concepts well. Since part of the semester was switched to online due to covid she posted worksheets which were very easy and it boosted my mark. The essays are fairly marked too.

Let me just tell you 5 years after graduation she is still my absolute role model. She hands down has impacted my life. If you want a quick grade -- dont take paulas class. If your naturally a good writer, prefer essays to tests, and like to participate -- this is for you. She is so incredible. I would give her every standing ovation if I could!

Great content, even better professor. Lectures are super interesting, she's a fair grader, and super caring. Overlooked an extremely late final essay submission. Extremely understanding, absolutely amazing professor! Definitely take her if you can!

Paula is hands-down amazing. She engages with the content and uses prime examples to explain complicated topics in philosophy. If you want the full effect, I suggest going to class as you gain more understanding. She is a lovely woman and gives good feedback on your assignments. I'd love to be taught by her again!

Paula is seriously awesome. Best class I've taken honestly. She is so engaging and passionate about philosophy everyone else becomes engaged too. She explains all the concepts really well that you don't even have to do the readings if you really don't want to. I wish I could take more classes with her!

This was my first phl class that was actually SO organized in terms of grading, what she expects and lecture slides. Paula is so helpful with her students so TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. As long as you show up to class, take good notes of key terms (for midterm and exam), and good at memorization this course is a easy A with barley doing the readings.

When she asked us to make name tags at a class of 100 people, I thought she was being crazy. But somehow she managed to learn everyones name and made everyone feel comfortable in her class. She is very easy to talk to and you can tell she cares about how you are doing in the course. I went to her office hours before every paper (we had 4).

Paula is such an amazing prof. She is so sweet and kind and breaks down the dense readings into very easy to understand lectures. Beware of her essays though as she is a tough marker but honestly its worth taking the course!

Comment:
Her lectures were immersive and enjoyable for the most part even if you don't like participating, as her participation marks come as pop essays that aren't graded. However, the main course grade comes from multiple deep-topic essays, and being a science student I consistently did worse on this course than my biology courses.. The essays were hard.

Paula Schwebel is so passionate about the course content, and gives very engaging lectures. You feel as if you WANT to participate, not just for the grade, but to actually be a part of the discussions she starts. You definitely need to show up, having read the books, in order to really benefit from her and grasp the course content.

Paula is honestly so sweet. I loved her and her class. You can really tell that she enjoys teaching the class. She is not too tough of a grader and she gives good feedback to help you improve. Lecture slides are posted and are the exact same as in class, but she does have more detail in class so it's good to go. Would take again 100%.
