He is a great professor. I had him for an experimental math class (MTH 180), he did a wonderful job. Very good feedback with Unit assignments, no quizzes, and again only 5 homework assignments for each unit. He is very funny and really cares about his students and makes the class enjoyable. I would recommend him!!

Professor Coffey provides a new outlook on MTH 110 that is quite different than any other (he let's it be known the first day!). At first his teaching will be quite foreign, but stick with it and "stay engaged" and you will be fine. This class didn't teach me as much about "math" but rather taught me how to prove my thinking to others and myself.

Comment:
Coffey is a nice professor overall and if you need help, he's always willing to help you out. However, his class can be extremely confusing. He tries to teach math in a "new" and "different" way that comes across as scattered and confusing to most people. The lectures don't have much of a point and he doesn't teach much math at all.

Prof Coffey is a really nice guy and is knowledgeable, but the class was a little frustrating. He teaches math in an entirely different way than anyone else and it can be hard to get used to. He cares a lot about your engagement. All assignments can be redone for full credit and you don't take any tests, you make your own. Easy A if you try!

Coffey is the coolest prof ever! he has a special place in my heart. Although I should have tested out in math 110, I didn't but this class was entertaining and I usually wouldn't go on Tuesdays because it was just lecture. I go on Thursdays, turn my stuff in and leave. Easiest class ever, definitely worth the money.

At first I thought David Coffey was going to be a great professor...I was completely wrong. I was treated like a elementary student, instead of helping us with math he pretty much avoided teaching it. He wants us to spend 2 hours on these ridiculous workshops. Would NEVER take him again! Complete waste of money! I didn't learn a single thing.

Coffey is a nice guy but he was not made to be a teacher. He rambles on and on, confuses himself, and rarely has a point. With two weeks in the semester, I have yet to learn a single thing. He has no idea how to explain what he's teaching and he'll explain the same topic four completely different ways. Do not take this professor.

Dave is an awesome professor. He truly wants the best for his students and will do anything to help you succeed. All assignments can be resubmitted if you are not happy with your grade. I wish I could take another course with him.

Dave is probably one of my favorite professors at GV. He does expect a lot of homework, but majority of it isn't graded. You will always have a "grade" but it won't be set in stone until the last week of classes. He allows you to resubmit work so you can receive a perfect score. I am absolutely taking him again. Can't get any better.

He wants 6 hours of hw a week. If he doesn't have that much to assign, he uses "choice workshops" in which we decide what to learn. Sound great? here's the catch: he insists that we learn to engage ourselves. He hardly teaches the subject. The only "learning" is from the highly-opinionated book.

Dave is great! All the chapter assessments are open note but timed so it can be a little stressful getting them done. Although, he always let's you make up some points you missed. One big project is due at the end of the semester, he gives you a lot of time to work on it...so use it wisely or else it will not turn out as good as you want it.

Dave, as you'll call him is a wonderful teacher. He wants everyone to do well, but it will take work. He'll help you if you ask. Best advice: Don't wait until the last minute to read the articles, the night before the final you'll be glad you did!! He's great!!!

Coffey is a good guy, he wants you to do well. If you show up to class and put in just a bit of effort, it goes a long way. He knows a LOT about teaching and education. Even though the course is boring, that's not his fault.

He is the best math teacher I have ever had. He does talk to you like you are a little kid, but he's also very kind and compassionate. He is very willing to help and truly wants his students to suceed. I am not good at math at all and he made the tests so easy that I Aced the class. TAKE HIM if you need really clear explanations!!

Comment:
Every future math teacher should be required to take him. His class discussions are more meaningful than anything you'll do in most education classes. Lots of work is due at the end of the semester, so don't slack. You will learn a lot about being a good math teacher.
