The class was relatively fun and engaging, exams were quite detailed and involved both textbook and lectures. Lectures clear and easy to understand as long as you pay attention. Gave good yet time consuming extra credit, very knowledgeable, Overall great challenging professor definitely highly recommended. Work/study hard and participate=easy A

This was a great class, I did learn a lot. However, it is equivalent to a 300-level course. I took it as a freshman, also not a very good idea. But she's great, nevertheless. And I really liked how passionate she was. TOUGH GRADER. Midterms are hard, but if you study the review sheet well you'll be fine.

Fairly easy class. She really knows about Africa, so be ready to discuss that. Other then that its your basic IDS course. Midterm has a review sheet, only one graded paper.

Class is kind of depressing, she focuses on genocide. But she is very intellegent and cares deeply about what she is teaching. Provides clear explanations, but there are few graded assignments in the class.

Best Prof. Ever!!! She is such an awesome prof! Her lectures are very interesting and informing. You have to read a lot and need to work hard to get a good grade, but it's worth it. Very intellectual prof and knows how to teach and make us learn. I enjoyed her class so much!!!

Studying for any of her exams suck, straight up. she gives a ton of possible essay questions and you only end up writting on two, normaly that wouldn't be so bad, but this is the last exam slot ever for 2004. the workload is extermely excessive

She had a nervous red breakout that would grow on her neck everyclass. The red stuff freaks me out. And there was nothing else to look at because those classrooms are new and don't have neat posters or low windows. The chairs were comfortable though.

Patterson is a great professor who really cares about students opinions. She loves class discussions. She uses great case examples to apply the theories learned in class. There is definitely work to do in the class but isn't a hard grader.

She is a great person who is very genuine. She has opinions about issues, but does not force them on her students or come across too unapproachable about them. She is corny, but makes me laugh. I recommend her for any class especially POLS 101!
