Professor Allen is one of a kind. He is a very nice person and he will teach the material to you very well. However, he is the hardest/most specific grader I have ever experienced. You have to do every problem exactly the way he shows you in class in order to do well on the exams, and he plays heavy favorites in his grading and class time.

Overall, I really enjoyed having Dr. Allen as a professor for Calc 1. He is super approachable and cares so much about the success of his students. The class itself is pretty difficult and heavy, but he does his best to keep classes fun. The only thing I did not like about having him is that the exam questions were pretty difficult for no reason.

There are 3 exams and quizzes every Friday no matter what. The exams and quizzes are pretty hard, but sometimes there are examples from class. Sometimes there are straight definitions he asks, so remember those. He's very picky with what work is shown so show your work and be ORGANIZED! Webwork was every week and had some hard problems.

Funny as hell, swears in the classroom to make the subject light. Great interactive with students and cares a lot. Makes you "program" your assignments in latex which is a learning curve and is worth most of the grade.

Dr. Allen is very specific in what he wants. You must show your work and do the math his way in order to do well in this class. Its his way or the highway. There are quizzes every week. The test and quiz questions are harder than the problems that are reviewed in class. Aside from math, he is a great person with a great sense of humor.

Go to office hours for help. Weekly webwork problems. Quizzes every Friday. He's VERY picky with what work is shown. Tests are hard if you don't do bookwork problems.

Dr. Allen is a really fun, smart, and passionate professor. He is sassy, and sometimes that sass can be taken the wrong way, but I don't think that he ever means to make any of his students feel bad. His lectures stay interesting because of his personality and he really is passionate about upper level math.

He's the typical math teacher that makes you feel kind of like an idiot if you don't understand something. He is a good person and he's funny, but he does get irritated easily and the tests and quizzes are usually more difficult than the example questions, plus there's a quiz every week so that makes up a good chunk of your grade.

His class is the most interactive class I've ever been in but you better remember all the little details on how he wants you to show your work. His office hours are very laid back and fun. Dont be scared by how hard it is because he is there for all his students.

Dr. Allen hates when you don't ask questions, but gets mad if you do ask questions so it's a lose lose situation. The tests are tough compared to the class problems. Not much required homework, but you need to do the optional bookwork in order to understand concepts.

Dr. Allen was a good professor overall. Math isn't an easy subject so no matter what professor you take you will have to work for success in the class. He'll help you if you ask, although he does seem irritated if you don't understand the material. He's funny in class. He cares about his students. He is moody though with good days and bad days.

What you go over in class is easy, but when it comes to the test he gives you very hard problems. He is also not very helpful. 10/10 would not recommend.

Dr. Allen is very moody. He gets mad if you don't understand things and practically yells at you for not understanding it. What we learn in class is easy but then he will put very hard problems on tests. You don't really know what you are going to expect with him. If you can take a different Math 150 professor, do it!

Dr. Allen doesn't like when you don't ask questions, but also doesn't like when you don't understand the material (hence the question). This class is not going to be a breeze expect to study as he teaches the easy problems and tests on harder ones. Also, remember to laugh at his jokes... even when they are not funny. He can get moody otherwise.

He defiantly thinks he is more helpful then he actually is.. He gets upset when you do not understand and will get flustered if you ask a question wrong. He also gets upset if you don't go to his office hours, but has rude sarcasm that makes you feel dumb for even asking. I would never take him again.

In short: AVOID DR. ALLEN. I had 4 years of math in high school and received all A's, and now I have lost my 4.0 GPA because of his class. He tries to be funny to make class more interesting but is constantly moody and unhelpful. He saves hard problems for tests and is very condescending during office hours. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

Comment:
He is a great professor and all, but he justifiably expects perfection on the test. If you have questions he is more than willing to help and is very pleasant. BUT this class is really really hard every answer on the test has to be exactly correct. I understand why he makes it so difficult, to help us perfect linear algebra, but some leeway is need
