Dont take this professor for your stat 214. He rushed through the topics. DIdnt explain them well. Taught us as if we already knew the information. Tests are multiple choice and open book but dont let that fool u. I repeated this class, took it with another professor and got an A. You can pass stat 214 w/ an A as long as you study hard everyday.

Tests are tough and will include examples not shown in class to make you think. But all tests are open, so open notebook, textbook, any tool you want to use. And his grading scale is not 10 point. So an 86 is still an A! So, if you come to class, take notes, go to the optional tutoring, you should at least get a B.

The test are open note and multiple choice. However, you still need to study. He lectures a lot, so be prepared to take a ton of notes. And his test normally look for a basic understanding of the material, rather than just a regurgitation of practice problems. If you study you should be fine.

Very hard to understand, him and the course. Doesn't help out much because he thinks we already know what we're doing, but we don't. Don't take him.

Dr. Pal gets the worst rap. His class gives no incentive to practice ever until test time. His tests are hard, and not something u can cram one night for, and thats how most people end up failing. The tests are sometimes outside the scope of his lecture, but can be aced with enough effort similarly to a calc 2 class in my experience. learned alot

WORST professor ever! The entire class is usually lost when he lectures. Do not let the adjusted grading scale fool you. He uses it every semester b/c everyone does poorly on his exams. The exam scores in his class are equivalent to physics exam grades. At least the physics professors use a decent curve to give students a chance to pass.

His teaching skills makes this subject harder than it needs to be. His lectures are pointless. The few sample problems that he provides does not prepare u for his exams. His test are extremely difficult. He is unable to provide a clear explanations to problems if you go to him for help. You will just feel more confused than u originally were.

Do NOT take him if you can! Clearly he knows what he is talking about and is very smarts, but he isn't good at teaching it. Explains really fast and the class passes so slow. He puts patterns in his test to mess with your head and just makes it worth. Gives a couple extra credits during the semester. If you take him get ready to go to tutoring!

Here's the thing: he legitimately teaches you how to work problems. Just not with enough preparation for HIS tests. Looking at other classes, I could pass with ease, but his tests have nothing from any review. Every test I went in having done all the online review, every practice problem correct, and I still had no clue what the test was asking

Let me be very clear: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAKE PAL. He lectures extremely fast. If you're confused about something he won't really explain it any differently if you ask him to clarify. His tests are BEYOND difficult and have patterns to them, so you second guess yourself and end up failing. He thinks this is funny.

HORRIBLE is the only word to describe his teaching. He grades hard & does not explain things well. Avoid at all cost. He is the worst professor I have had at ul. I would not take him again.

Being someone who is horrible at math, I found that he made it fairly easy to understand. The tests are hard, even with open notes/book, but he tries to help you out as much as possible. He is very passionate about what he teaches and does not want you to fail his class. Get old tests if you can, because they are basically the same questions.

I do not recommend this teacher. He teaches entirely too fast and things were not as accurate as they should have been. Even with open book test and notes, if you do not know when to use the correct formula then you will set yourself up for failure. Good luck!

All test were open book, open notes, and multiple choice. But still requires a lot of studying. The only homework we had for the whole semester was a sample packet. He also gave many opportunities to earn extra points. I would recommend him.

This teacher is not for babies. He emphasizes theory so we'll know how/when to use tests appropriately. His class tests take a long time because you have to show how you set up the problem and make the results meaningful. Index notes with post-its so you can flip through it during tests. You'll work hard, but you'll retain what you learn.

Horrible! DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is an excellent teacher, however his tests are nothing like the notes he gives. After he'd administer a test, he would leave the room for over half of the test, so if you had a question you would be screwed. Avoid if possible.

Broke each problem down step-by-step and even provided a flow chart that showed how to answer every problem on the test. In the summer class, he allowed tests to be open notes and book. Great math teacher!
