Comment:
Mean-spirited and unhelpful, no lesson plan. Another reviewer nailed it when they said his lectures were a rambling mess. I begged him to let me turn in a paper late as I was dealing with some really rough circumstances at home and his face practically lit up with glee at the opportunity to turn me down and tell me what a terrible student I was.

Dr. B knows his stuff. Hes loaded with facts and information. If you pay attention in class and do the reading youll be fine. I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

Took Blankenship for Greek. Difficult class due to the material, but he is very helpful and tries to help you learn the language well and develop good habits. Mostly taught myself the material from the book and then had it reinforced in class or had confusion cleared up. Be ready to make lots of flash cards and spend lots of time memorizing.

I had him for OT. Incredibly knowledgeable and fascinating-lectures are enjoyable to listen to. He's a pretty animated fellow, enjoys sneaking in subtle humor and finding it in the Bible. Be sure to take notes. Really didn't have to do any work for the class except for three short papers. Do excellent work but don't over think his papers.

Tests were open book and on your own computer. The only way I had a good grade was because of the writing assignments. His lectures are boring and if you get distracted easily you will zone out. He is very knowledgeable just doesn't seem to know how to display it in a manner where students can actually learn.

The tests regarding the Bible are so specific that it is highly unlikely you will know all the answers. Tests taken on your own computer and many people cheat, you can't really get a good grade without cheating which is really unfortunate. I got my first C ever in this class.

He assumes you have a lot of prior knowledge of the Old Testament so his lectures are extremely confusing- you never know what you're expected to know for exams. The papers are easy A's but the tests and quizzes are hard.

His lectures are a rambling mess. Then he turns around and tests me on basic concepts that he could have easily explained. This was supposed to be an introductory course, but I was not introduced to anything except confusion. I'm not christian and I had to take this as a part of the core curriculum. I really just need the credit...

Not a great class, but not a terrible one either. Sort of forgettable. Lectures every day, easy As on the papers, and the occasional pop quiz. The Bruce book is extremely boring, but the first test is on it, so you'll need to buyrent it. You don't have to buy the Keener and using an online bible is easier than print because you can do searches.

Dr. Blankenship is really smart and he knows his material well. Unfortunately, his classes are really boring and non-engaging. There is zero class participation and his lectures seem to drone on and on. Easy A with the price of boredom. He also gives pop-quizzes, so show up to class. My grade was lower because of missing class.

OT & NT classes with Uncle Jim were the most fun I had all freshman year. He's brilliant, and he makes the Bible come and helped me see it from different perspectives. His stories were so much fun, and I found his tests and papers very do-able. I didn't do much of the reading, so all I had to do is prepare for the tests and papers. So many memories

Not a good professor, teaches you his version of scripture, thinks all questions are wrong. I took tons of notes and tried very very hard, got good grades on my papers and still struggled. Avoid if possible....especially if he's teaching Honors.

Professor Blankenship is a very knowledgeable guy. unfortunatly too knowledgeable. he can think of your questions as stupid. If you get offended easily I suggest not to take him, he dosn't think before he speaks and can reply in a rude way even though he doesn't mean to. His tests are very hard I made 100 on everything else and struggled for a B

Hard but fair. He is hyper intelligent, so not for the faint of heart. If you want an easy grade, don't take him. If you want a challenge and to learn, take him. His knowledge based in facts is impressive.

If you want a hard general ed. class take Blakenship. He is very scatterbrained and hard to follow. All his tests are over 1 liners he uses in class so you basically have to write down every word he says. Wouldn't take him again for anything.
