Comment:
She Rambles a lot and Could save half the time in class if she was concise. You spend about 6 hours in class a week because of the extra lab she requires, mostly so she can talk more. She talks way too loudly and way too much. She's pretty unclear because it's just stream of consciousness.

I earned high grades on nearly all of my assignments and in class she would compliment me, but when grades came out she acted like she was being generous by giving me a B. If you're not looking to get A's in every class, you'll be fine but this is the only B I've had at Chapman, and I was really disappointed. But class helps w newspaper writing!

Despite what the other people say, Paterno is a very good teacher and Professor and does really care about her students. She puts a lot of effort into teaching and journalism in general at Chapman and in her career and expects her students to do the same. If you work hard she will appreciate it and give you a good grade. Just work hard

So much work and dedication required for 1-unit P/NP class..would not recommend you take it if you're not a journalism major and don't need it. Don't take for GE unless you want to write a 500-word story every week. She is nice and a helpful prof. but sometimes talks too much and wastes class time when we could be working on our stories.

Ugh! Do not take this class. She is one of the most difficult teachers I've ever had! You end up turning in the same assignment 5 times with no comments on it, then the final draft is handed back to you with her negative comments all over it! Not very helpful, she is sarcastic and rude. She picks on students in class. Take someone else!!!

Susan is a great teacher and she will really make you work and earn your grade. Yes, she's really critical and blunt but that's how it is in the journalism world and she's sort of a prep to that. I learned so much from her class and I'm grateful for the knowledge I've gained. Yes, this is a really challenging course and lot of work but its worth it

If you want to be picked on in class, this is for you. She sucks and should be fired. This is the worst class i have ever taken. Do not take ENG 215 from her.

This is an extremely stressful class. Expect to be doing a lot of outside work, more than any other class. Outside of class, shes extremely helpful especially if you have her as an advisor.

theories of journalism...Oh my gosh! If you like being stressed out and never knowing how well you are doing in the class and having 5 big assignments at once with a scattered brain teacher then I recommend this professor.

A very good teacher for journalism students. She is blunt and critical, but for journalists, that is exactly what they need to make their writing better. I learned more from her about journalism in one sememster than I had in four years of high school.

Throws you into first assignment with little prep besides the text...but then helps you out afterwards. Class is very self-motivated and no due dates are set in stone. A funny teacher!
