Marshak is a solid professor. He gives very clear lectures and examples with them. Marvin is caring and wants everyone to succeed; you will not fail his class if you do the work. Whether you attend his office hours, ask in lecture, or email him, Marshak will always be willing to help. Marshak also gives great life advice! I highly recommend him!

Probably one of my favorite professors I have ever had, he is a wise old man that is quick with his wit. His class is pretty par for the course when it comes to physics classes, but his passion and care for just about every student is noteworthy. He's gone out of his way to just talk to me in times of crisis; he's a solid choice for any student.

The lectures were helpful for the most part however he seemed to be way ahead in the lectures compared to the homework. The weekly quizzes were at times quite difficult.

PHYS1301W can be fairly brutal for students, and Professor Marshak did his best to minimize the damage. He was very cooperative and open to student feedback, namely on formatting quizzes for an online semester.

Prof Marvin made Zoom University soooo much better for me as a freshman. He's really funny and cares a lot about the students. Lectures are typical, but at times he goes on a tangent and you're not sure if you have to be writing the stuff down or not. Overall, really helpful and chill prof.

Had him fall 2019. Marvin is a great and funny guy, bought us cookies. You had to go to lecture for the clicker questions. Homework was challenging but you got 5 attempts per question. Learned very little from lecture, but slides were detailed enough to learn the material from. Go to office hours he'll tell you what the midterm questions are on.

He is a very funny guy and is probably the best of the basic physics teachers. He tends to get confused by some of the things he teaches but he will do his best to explain them. I find it easier to go to the TA for help but ALWAYS go to his office hours before test and even anytime you have a problem.

He makes it impossible to fail. I am absolutely terrible at physics, and managed to get a B+ in the class by doing the minimum (I never opened the book, but it would've helped lol). Get good grades on pre-class quizzes, homework, and lab reports and you will pass even if you suck at exams. Highly recommend Chegg to help out with all the homework.

Amazing professor, funny guy who genuinely cares for students. If you show up to every lecture, do all lab work, and show up to his office hours the week of a midterm, you will pass. The work can be a bit hard at times, but if you put in the work you are guaranteed to pass his class.

In my first year here I took Marvin for 1301 and 1302. He is fantastic for how much he cares. He will always respond to emails, talk outside of class, and he WILL NOT let you fail, under almost any circumstance. His teaching style isnt the best of the physics profs, but its not bad. I think overall he is a great professor who you wont regret taking

He's a funny guy and he even gave the whole class cookies. His lectures don't go into too much detail but he does allow a sheet of notes on every quiz and the final and he usually goes over what specific types of problems will be in the exams so you can write down the write equations on your note sheet.

Marshak is a really nice guy. Sometimes lectures could get a bit confusing because of the sheer amount of material covered, but he makes the tests just like the problems he goes over in class. It is clear he wants his students to succeed. From the very first class, he emphasized that "if you show up and put in effort, you will pass this class"

He makes lectures fun and worth going to, although he does breeze through the content a lot, so you have to sort of teach yourself. However, Marvin is a really caring, understanding, and amazing person and is willing to work with you and help you get the grade you want. Chegg is a good best friend for homework.

He's funny and has very helpful office hours, the only problem is this class as a whole is pretty tricky in my opinion. The mastering physics homework is practically impossible without chegg but if you have a good TA you should be fine

Marvin is a great guy who adores all of his students. He makes sure that everyone passes as long as you somewhat try. His office hours usually give you answers to upcoming tests too. However, his lectures are sometimes hard to learn from as he just points at answers in his power points rather than explaining how he got them.

Marvin is the sweetest person ever. While his personality is funny and absolutely hilarious, I found it impossible to learn from his lectures. He often mumbles, and he has obvious favorites. I highly recommend office hours.

Marshak is such a friendly, easygoing guy. The class tends to overwhelm people at first because the first test average is usually pretty low, but if you pay attention in lecture and don't cheat on the homework, he makes it really easy to do well. Hilarious jokes and really accessible for office hours/extra help.
