Dr. Swift is a nice person. However just because he's nice does not mean he knows how to teach. Taking this course, I felt like I had to have has a Ph.D. in statistics. If it's not obvious, I'm an undergrad. His tests were so hard the class average was 20. For both midterm and final. I don't recommend taking him at all.

This professor is great person. However, being a good person does not correlate with being a good teacher. I highly do not recommend taking him. I was a straight A student but his class was not challenging, he was. He asks questions that have nothing do with what we're learning. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO FAIL. PERIODT.

I've taken 2 courses with Dr. Swift. I would take him again if I could. Stats is hard and challenging. But as a college student, we know the material will be tough and we have to work for it. My advice is, go over the lectures and assignments 2 or 3 times. Just study and you'll pass! Everything discussed in class is on the exam! Pay attention!

I love Dr. Swift, but if you can help it, the other experimental psych classes may be easier. From comparing notes with others who have taken the class, it seems that PSYC465 with swift has a considerably higher amount of work than other profs. That said, I got a lot out of his class, and I feel it has prepared me well for working in research.

Professor Swift is an awesome professor. I was worried about taking experimental psych as a hybrid course, but Swift was extremely helpful. Lab reports on the different experiments due weekly, independent project, and a final exam. He's a fair grader and wants you to succeed. He offers a lot of time for office hours for any help you need. Take him!

Professor Swift is hands down the best professor in the Psychology department at U of M. There is a lot of work to do(weekly assignments), an independent experiment and final exam. Do not freak out though he will help you every step of the way. No one failed this class. Take him for experimental

Bring your laptop and follow along in class as he does the examples on the HW. I only had to do about 1 hr/wk outside class. Exams are just like the HW. Let's you make a cheat sheet. Review the HW and write out anything you can't do 100% by memory. Very fair & sweet. Go to class and pay attention, he can be a little dry/boring, Get over it, Easy A

I won't lie, this class is HARD. However, he makes the subject a bit easier with how accessible he is. He's in his office when he says he will be & responds to emails VERY quickly. 12 long weekly assignments & 2 hard exams (about 40 multiple choice & 3-4 essays). Probably the most helpful & organized prof I've had. The book is absolutely necessary.

Dr. Swift is a great professor and getting A's is not like pulling teeth. Sensation and perception is difficult to begin. You have to study or you will be lost. He is the fairest professor I ever had. I blundered on my final exam/essay and he gave me the benefit of the doubt. He wants students to succeed. Just do your work and you'll be fine

Worst professor. Barely understandable and the workload is unbearable. does not know how to teach he gives out work that has nothing to even do with psychology. I felt like Iwas about to take the MCAT with his lectures for sensation and perception and his methods class was not any better. DO NOT TAKE! I am a straight A student but could barely pass

Very difficult class. Do not take this course unless you are ready to have full lab reports due every week!! Lectures are very difficult to understand, lab reports are even more difficult. Never used the book once. Had 10 lab reports plus an independent project. Final exam was the hardest one i've ever taken, all short answer and calculations.

I loved Swift a lot. Study and you will get the grade. Weekly assignments that are not that hard, just write a lot and do them. Drops lowest. 2 tests lots of material but if you READ its easy. KEEPUP with reading the textbook. Cool class and he is charming. Would take again. READ A CHAPTER EVERY WEEK, DONT GET BEHIND thats my best advice!

100point assignmnt weekly. Assignmnts are 50% of grade and midterm+final 50%. Make sure u do well on all assignmnts because the midterm & final will probably bring ur grade down. He'll drop 1 assignmnt. Listen to lectures because his exams are based on those. At the very least go over the Powerpts. Tough class but doable if u keep up w/ lectures

There's no doubt that the Professor knows what he's talking about. However, the way he delivers the material is BORING ! His tone and dialect can honestly put you to sleep faster than 30 Ambiens. He's a great guy - he'll work with you to try to help you understand the material, but he's not great at delivering material in an interesting way.

His Lectures are EXTREMELY BORING BEWARE OF THAT, but he is a nice guy and tries to make it interesting. Homework is very difficult and so are test, you really need to study and ask questions ASAP. Also there are only 2 test so 8 chapters is covered in each. Lastly it can be difficult understanding some of the stuff he teaches but he clears that up

This class was actually Psy. 465 part online and part in class one time a week. There is a LOT of work every week doing experiments and writing scientific papers. Also a lot of work that is done on excel. This class should be done in a computer lab. Take this class in person, you will need more than 1 hour of instruction per week.

I took Professor Swift for an online class and I really enjoyed it. The only downside is two assignments per week, which can be lengthy, but once you do those assignments the exams are a breeze. I would definitely take him again for an online class. He has discussions set up for every assignment, which he responds to questions quickly. Recommend!

I haven't taken a math class in years, so stats wasn't the easiest BUT he gives weekly homework assignments and works through them with you. He teaches you stats with actual applied terms that relate to psych. There are only two exams worth 50% and homework worth 50%. Take stats with him, you won't regret it! Don't don't bother getting the textbook
