Professor Walkling is a spectacular professor human being. I took 3 classes with him (Art Hist, Eng, and Hist) and each class was better than the next. He makes lectures super interesting, helps you improve your writing skills and best part: you learn so much. He is literally always available to help you too. Super lucky to be able to know him.

I liked Professor Walkling as a person. He's very nice but I found class really hard when we went online. Sometimes he would extend the class time by 20-30 minutes. For the final we had to memorize over 200 paintings I'm pretty sure. I think I would take another class with him after the pandemic.

Nah, for starters his whole vibe came off as "let's make this difficult." Nice guy, but doesn't know how to properly get his point across without several tangents

This semester was crazy, but this guy just wasn't able to do his job when the time came. Complained about how "busy" he was figuring out the internet more than anything else, but there were 0 grades given until after the final, and discussion boards replaced class so ??? Also forced in-person midterm against NY State of Emergency for COVID19.

Walkling expects all of his students to have a PhD in British Literature just like he does. He gives an impossible amount of work to read and its extremely dense and boring. He doesn't explain it well and just expects students to understand. He is not understanding or receptive to students personal lives and I wouldn't take a class w him again

This guy literally does not care about anything other than his own books and his own class. Very blind to any other coursework you may have in other classes. Extremely irrational when giving assignments and texts. The midterm was ridiculous, and he made it impossible to receive an A. Does not care about the pandemic either:)

We were assigned so many dense texts written in Old English (often longer than 50 pages) that were really hard to understand, and we were expected to identify specific quotes and details from them for the midterm. It was basically impossible to do well, and he gave the grade back for the midterm on the last day of class.

at the start of the term, I thought he was ok. quickly changed- could not wait for it to be over. he does hold reviews for tests, but overall boring & MUCH READING. makes unnecessary political comments and kind-of offensive jokes. called himself a renaissance man (take that as you will). posted midterm grade on last class day. would not recommend.

Walkling has been my absolute favorite professor. I'm going to be taking another class with him next semester. As long as you do the assigned readings and engage in discussion, the class becomes fun and interesting. There's a LOT of reading, but as long as you make an effort, he will help you succeed.

Andrew is a great professor. He is very nice, makes class interesting and always willing to work with his students, both in class and out of class. THEA304 is a tad difficult due to all of his notes being verbal. You gotta really pay attention to what he says. There are two projects, quizzes and two papers. Not bad, spread apart in the semester.

Great guy. Funny, engaging lecturer. Very theatrical (it was Shakespeare though). Very easy to talk to, and makes time to meet with you. Cares about students (he pulled me aside one class and talked about my future and whether I was using the class to the fullest extent). Extremely knowledgeable. A true Renaissance man, and he has awesome hair.

Great person. His lectures are awesome, and I really felt smarter after attending his lectures. He really knows what he is talking about. Also, if you ask for help, he will give it to you and then some. Really wants his students to do well, and as long as you do what he asks you will do well.

Prof Walkling's lectures were consistently entertaining. I felt that I had learned a great deal after every class. His enthusiasm is matched by how knowledgeable he is and by his eagerness to help his students learn. He looks like a sitter for an early modern painting, in the best way! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to take this class.

Undoubtedly the most competent and enthusiastic professor out of the three universities I've attended throughout the U.S. Professor Walkling is a Renaissance Man, to say the least. There is very little room for error in his class (which I'm currently enrolled in) but this is a genuine teacher who cares about your education and your time.

I would highly reccomend Prof. Walkling. At the beginning of the semester he clearly lays out expectations, and if you follow them you do well. His understanding and passion for the subject, as well as his his animated lectures, make the courses enjoyable and the content more interesting. One of my favorite professors I've had the past three years.

The most entertaining professor I've ever had. He's animated and hilarious. He is so passionate about London and really wants his students to feel the same way. He is willing to stay all night during the review session. Don't take this class if you are looking for straight forward English or Art History, only if you care about London.
