Comment:
Folsom is really knowledgeable about literature and is very caring and accommodating towards his students. There was a lot of reading, however, but I thought it was really interesting and worth it in the end, even though I got a B-, which was honestly because of my own disorganization. I would like to take another one of his classes though!

The Whitman seminar was a disappointment. I know I am alone in this, but I found Ed to be rather cold and unapproachable.

This is the most amazing class i have ever been in. Professor Folsom is always willing to be helpful out side of class and he explains poetry in ways that I would have never thought of. He's brilliant and everyone should take his class

Very smart man, but expects far too much from his undergrad students. Be prepared to read at least 200 pages a week, don't expect to discuss much of it in class. Very much quantity over quality when it comes to poems.

The class was incredibly useful, and he was pretty cool. I didn't take it very seriously at first and he sort of called me on it, instead of letting it slide like most professors.

The greatest living scholar of Walt Whitman, and the greatest mentor to students interested in him.

Comment:
He has made me understand the joys of a student centered class. I never want to miss a class discussion, as one cannot replace the student interactions. Have yet to catch him off guard with an angle he won't consider. This man makes one THINK.
