Tests and homeworks are impossible if you do not write exactly what she was thinking. Lectures are boring and she is condescending when answering questions. Lab portion is easy, since she has nothing to do with it.

Comment:
This class was HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE WITH DR SAUER. Everyone in the class does fine in the actual lab and lab practical, but her homework and tests are impossible. If you don't do or write exactly what she was thinking you were wrong. She's extremely rude and condescending and not responsive to questions about it too. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!

I really liked her as a lecturer but her tests were hard for me. I wasn't prepared for the format and my grades suffered. However, she is a great professor and very engaging. I would recommend her but get ready to work hard.

Dr. Sauer is an excellent professor. She is very passionate about teaching this subject and conveys the material very well. The material is very dense, but she manages to deliver it in an exciting way and with full of enthusiasm. This is a must take class if you are serious about research. Either way, you won't regret it; I promise you. Cheers

Dr. Sauer is a very intense and dedicated instructor. She expects her students to be motivated and if you are lazy, you will NOT have a good experience. If you are a person that is motivated there is no limit to how much you will learn! She has a great sense of humor and ls very kind and doesn't ever make you feel stupid for asking questions!

Great teacher. Anyone who rates her low is just not meant to do bio at the level expected of a science major. She is very helpful, nice, and understanding.

She makes inappropriate and sarcastic comments when you ask questions and doesn't care about student's ability to understand concept. She is not forgiving nor is she open to new ideas. She has a knack for abasing students who challenge her views and is at times very intimidating. She is a terrible professor. Don't bother!

For those who say bio is pure memorization, this class proves it. Her tests were impossible, fill in the blank. She was more concerned with spelling than actual concepts. If your answer didn't follow her train of thought, she did not give you credit. Memorized alot of biology words & acronyms, but have no idea what they mean.

I have to say this is a very hard course. But Pr. Karin is very nice. Her exam questions are the trickiest I have ever met. But if you think the questions are unclear, you'd better ask Karin herself (the TAs do not help much on explaining them). The questions are actually simpler than they appeared after you ask her.

I highly admire Pr. Sauer for her obvious knowledge of the subject; wish I'd gotten to know her better over the semester. True, the class is VERY dense, & the tests are tricky, but if you're truly interested, take it-you'll get thru. All you whiners out there-if you think this class was hard, what do you think MEDICAL SCHOOL will be like?

OMG this is the hardest class ever. Her tests suck and there is like no way of preparing. U need to be able to read her mind in order to do well. WTH is that! I am not psychic. Avoid this class please. Unless she is not the professor for it. I really regret taking this class. But the class itself was interesting i have to say.

Really boring lectures, and very difficult exams. She is not lenient at all on her exams and will admit her questions (on the exam) are unclear-yet will do nothing to correct it. Avoid this class if at all possible, or wait for a different professor to teach it.

extremely difficult course. tests are impossible. harder in some ways than physics and organic chem. must memorize completely her notes to get decent grade. avoid this course if possible. grade is based entirely on 3 exams and a final! exams are all fill-ins! definately possible to study very hard and do all the work and still not do well...
