Comment:
John tried to make lectures fun with jokes, but there is just so much material to know and understand. You typically finish exam material a week before and he continues with the next exam material the week of your exam, so it was hard (for me) to stay focused on the right information.

Drawn out lectures with little information in each (could probably take half the time it actually does).Stopped going to class and watched his videos at 2x speed and it still felt slow. He posts homework with no regular schedule so it can be hard to keep track of when things are due. Tests are easy if you look at past tests and discussion problems.

I have Prof. David for Spring '20, and I couldn't tell you how anyone could dislike him. His tests may challenging, but he gives us plenty of extra material to cushion our grades without it becoming busy work and even some opportunities to fix our mistakes. He's definitely one of the nicest and most understanding professors I've ever had.

Extremely hard to understand and exams are all free response. He flies through the notes with little explanation.

Dr. David can be arrogant and rude at times. He can be really hard to understand in lectures because of his age and rushes through powerpoint without explaining things clearly. His tests really make you apply concepts and he makes them very specific and extremely difficult to work out because of the wording. NO MULTIPLE CHOICE, ONLY ESSAYS.

I took this class Spring 17 and it was great! The class is hard and the exams are very specific, but if you go to class and discussion and actually pay attention and study hard, an A is achievable. I did buy the book but did not open it a singular time. Going to office hours helped immensely, Dr. David really cares about your success.

Material is intensive but if you read the book, do homework and watch tegrity lectures at your own speed you will do fine. T.A.s make this class. Instructor is often rude and unhelpful when approached. Lectures are quick and littered with dad jokes that have nothing to do with genetics & can be grossly insensitive. Insanely specific test grading.

I loved this class and Dr. David. He focuses on big-picture ideas rather little details and really makes you think. All the info you need is at lecture so I would not buy the book. The class was hard but manageable with effort and time. Dr. David really fostered class participation and had great humor as well.

I very much liked this class. The lectures were always informative and worked clearly in conjunction with the tests. Very dry humor, and a man who makes you think about big picture, I think John David was a wonderful professor.

He's a genuinely great guy that wants his students to succeed. Sometimes, the lectures can be a bit confusing, but if you read over the text at least a little bit then you should be all right.

I strongly disliked this class. David's lectures are extremely confusing and he goes off topic a lot. His PowerPoint slides contain barely any words, mostly pictures, and he changes the slides way too quickly whenever they have any helpful words. I did very well in this class only because of natural smarts and teaching myself the material.

His lectures have literally nothing to do with the tests. I went through every tegrity of his class and nothing was on the actual exam. The exams are hard. I honestly did not like him.

Dr. David is a super nice guy that want his students to succeed. He teaches the class from a more professional prospective rather than utilitarian, which has its ups and downs. It is sometimes hard to know what he means/expects you to know. Discussion is a must. Work hard and an A is definitely achievable.

I loved Dr. Davids genetics class. He really cares about his students. His test do require an ample amount of studying but a good grade is easy to achieve. You get a lot of old exams and study material. So, you always know what to expect on exam day and they're are never any surprises. Overall, he makes the class fair. The Class average was a C+/B-.

He was a really cool guy. He wasn't very approachable (he's the head of his department), but he really cared about his students' learning the material, not just regurgitating it for the exam. I loved this class!

Comment:
A little boring at times, but covers the material pretty well. Can jump around at times and be a little confusing; talks a bit fast at times as well. Tests require quite a bit of studying, but if you understand the material, you should do well. Use your TAs as much as you can.
