Professor Langbehn is a true gem. I had to join German 206 last minute due to a class requirement, and he recommended that I join 206. While it was quite intimidating at first to join late, he was so supportive and helpful throughout the semester. He cares about his students, and he wants everyone to succeed.

Langbehn is SO FUNNY! He somehow managed to make learning German grammar fun! I am amazed at how he was able to teach everything in German to a bunch of non-German speaking students. The full immersion was intimidating at first, but looking back I wouldn't have it any other way. Langbehn truly cares about his students. 10/10 I'd recommend!

Prof. Langbehn is probably the best professor I've ever had at SF State. He's crazy knowledgeable and cares about the success of his students so much. I've taken 5 classes with him and he inspired me to declare a German major. Langbehn is so genuinely enthusiastic and passionate about German studies. Get ready to critically think and read a lot!

This is a total German immersion class so everything is taught in German and using English is frowned upon. It is not as bad as you think it is and you will catch on real quick -- I promise you. Participation is key also. It may seem "tough" but you will learn A LOT. Langbehn makes learning German very fun and easy. I highly recommend him!

I love Mr. Langbehn! He is such a great german professor. Absolutely take him if you get the chance. You will learn so much but beware he will pick on you to participate. At first he's a little intimidating but Langbehn is extremely helpful when you ask. Trust me you won't regret it.

Covers a lot of material, but not everything on the syllabus, and a lot not on the syllabus, and you're still responsible for it. Dismisses the participation of students who aren't his "stars." His sarcasm is not appropriate in a classroom. Aware of his admittedly above-average good looks; can be pompous. Knowledge is a mile wide and an inch deep.

Langbehn is hands-down the best professor I've had at SFSU. I've taken three of his classes and can't wait to take more with him. If you're self-motivated to learn the material and not just taking his class to fulfill a requirement, this is the class for you! He makes it easy to learn German as long as you show up and do the work.

Volker is a very caring teacher and grades his tests easily; however, there are many tests he assigns, sometimes every week, sometimes every 2 weeks. It is nothing too difficult if you show up too class and study for the tests. The course is also taught in full German, no English is allowed in class.

Awesome professor, super passionate and entertaining. Only problem is, too much information! I've taken other languages and this was just way too much without any time to memorize long term. You'll learn about 300-400 vocab each two weeks + other stuff. Speaks too much German for a beginner class :( You'll end up googling for english explanations.

What dramatic lectures! His History of the Holocaust class is as amazing as it is (sadly) depressing. Being a German and growing up in cold war Germany, he provides a very serious and incredible personal insight on Nazi Germany, and how the nation came to terms and recognized it's Nazi past during the 1970-80s. A brilliant teacher who is passionate

His immersion techniques are impressive since he will speak German 95% of the time. He expects you to be on top of HW and assigned readings AT ALL times. Intense and not an easy class but he's sure to make it worth your time.
