Good prof. instructions are very clear and he is very organized. Unless you are a hard worker who likes geography, don't take this class because it is very tough. Not an easy A, makes you hard really hard for your grade. If you don't read, study, put effort into any work, or decide to procrastinate, then drop this course because you will fail.

Though the course was not easy and boring, it is doable if you start early, read the syllabus, textbook, and submit everything on time. He makes you work hard, which teaches you responsibility and you get to enhance your writing skills. 3 open book tests can be tough, 1 or 2 extra credit assignments, the lowest grade gets drops. No research papers.

Took this course over the summer: discussions and essays every week that require a lot of time, 3 exams are open book but challenging. Make sure you buy the textbook and read it or else you will fail. Do not procrastinate, start the work early, especially the discussions, or else he'll take points off. Drops the lowest grade, deadlines are strict.

Really enjoyed Professor Chu's attitude toward the classroom and found them to be an insightful and fun professor to listen from. History is always presented in a straight forward and easy mannered way. If you pay attention, take your notes, and aren't bumming on your phone you will do well in this class and hopefully enjoy it too! Very fun!

Took this professor for online West Civ. Hardest class I had. There are 8 tests that are designed to be extra difficult. About 8 papers all 1200 words due almost every two weeks and a discussion for every week. Do not take him if you want an easy A or just to breeze by.

Really tough tests! Tough grader. Every two weeks (give or take) you have an 1500-1800 word paper, a difficult exam, and a discussion. You are given plenty of time but when you have other classes, its not easy. Would not take his class again.

Pretty solid professor. I took his online class and usually you had two weeks to complete each chapter which included: a discussion post, paper, and exam. He is a bit of a tough grader but once you get the hang of things it's not too bad. He's organized and provides a lot of additional resources. I would take him again.

Prof. Chu is an amazing professor. I did not but the textbook and I scored a B+ every single test. He is very passionate about teaching geography and he also makes it very interesting. He may talk a lot but he does give you amazing information that I never knew about. Overall great man, easy grade if you try, tests consist of a lot of points

Took the course online and found the work very manageable for each week. You read 1-2 chapters, post on discussion board & respond twice, 30-50 question exam and a 1-2 page paper. You can get by skimming a lot of the history book for the discussion & paper, the exam is more detailed. Gives a pass for missed assignment on a paper, discussion & exam.

His tests are difficult. Most of the questions on the tests are either not mentioned in lecture, or mentioned very briefly and not explained clearly. I recommend you read the textbook, but even then, the way the multiple choice questions are worded might confuse you.

I took this course over the summer. He was great there is a discussion, test and a paper due each week. THIS CLASS IS VERY CHALLENGING. i suggest if you do not know how to write well, or do not like writing at all this online course is not for you. but overall great course, makes you really think about what you are writing.

Professor Chu is a really good professor. You can tell he enjoys teaching and is passionate about history. His class is not easy, lots of work and the tests are extremely difficult. He points out if you get half the questions right on a test you did well. Class was online, forum posts, paper and test every two or three weeks. Over all, enjoyed it.

Professor Chu is an extremely straightforward and fair teacher. He has a system which he expects you to abide by and as long as you do there is no reason not to do well. I have taken 3 courses with him this being my third (Western Civ) and each one has been great. As long as you do what he says there is no reason why you should not pass.

took this class online for Summer II, if you are going to take this class I would recommend to only take this class in the summer, it's a lot of work but very interesting, he requires you to do three things each week, discussion, test and essay; discussions are easy, test are very difficult, easy questions are easy, this class was easy and hard

Difficult for no reason. He does not treat this like a 101 course. EACH WEEK you Must read 2 long chapters, take extremely difficult test where he expects you to only get half the questions right, discussion along with 1.5-2 pg single spaced essay. I am a hard working student but I feel like he went out of his way to make this hard.

This course was slightly more challenging that my other online courses. The exams can be tricky, I had to reread the questions. Essays and the discussions were far easier than the exams. If you are looking for an easy breeze, look elsewhere because Chu isn't it. positive feedback always given after assignments are submitted-a quick grader. A!
