I don't know why there are so many bad reviews for Professor Hatfield. He is absolutely a great professor, and a great guy. He's always available if you have questions. His lectures are kind of boring, but he knows what he's talking about. You definitely need to do the work, and study because tests are pretty difficult. Overall, he's fantastic.

Take this class online if you can. The only work in this class is 1 lab a week followed by a quiz and some Pearson questions. The labs can all be found online.

He is a great professor, but his class is really tough. No matter how hard you study, you will get an awful grade. His test questions are really tricky.

This professor obviously knows what he's talking about and has lots of experience. But the class is hard with a pass/fail ratio of about 50/50. Not approachable when it comes to questions. Direct quote from him in regards to the final, "So basically I give you the rope and you figure out how to hang yourselves." Advice: Take lots of notes.

Pop quizzes and test- HARD! Doesn't have much patience for questions when asked during lab. Must do good on quizzes, labs, and other assignments to maintain a passing grade because they tests are pretty rigorous.

Its not an easy A, but if you take good notes, study them, do the labs, do the extra credit, and pay attention, not hard to do well. Mr. Hatfield was super passionate about geology in his lectures and labs. At times, classes were long and monotone but keeping up with notes was essential. Tests have fill in the blank with no word bank, so STUDY!

Its not an easy A if thats what youre looking for. Many had trouble with grades my semester, but if you study the notes, do the labs, do the extra credit, and put in some good ol fashioned work youll be fine. Subjects were super interesting and Mr. Hatfield made it even more so. Hes travelled the world and tells great applicable stories!!

Pop quizzes and tests are half short answer & half multiple choice - HARD! Test questions are not always straightforward and asked things not covered in class lecture. Teacher missed 3-4 classes so raced through lectures trying to catch up. Get 10 on all labs and couple other assignments to help with quiz & test grades to pass.

The great thing about Hatfield is that he's really passionate about geology and he's very knowledgeable, but he is very impatient and is not approachable if you need help. Specifically in regard to labs, he has absolutely no patience for questions. The tests are very difficult and getting bad grades on them spells a bad overall grade.

AMAZING professor! He is so enthusiastic and passionate about the subject, and makes earth science enjoyable and interesting. Do not take if you're looking for an easy A. His tests and quizzes are very difficult but does semi-frequent labs and homework to help raise your grade. Take this class if you actually want to learn something.

Stan is one of the best prof's I have ever had. I'm sad I won't have anymore classes with him. Funny, interesting, and a great teacher. He does not mess around with attendance; if you're 5 minutes late, don't even bother; the doors are locked tight. Super hard tests but everything is in his lecture notes. He is a must-take professor!!

Fantastic professor. A great speaker and tells some of the most interesting stories I have ever heard. The material that is covered is relatively difficult, but he makes it fun and interesting. There is a little bit of group work and the test aren't easy, but if you study you will pass.

I hate science, but I actually liked going to class as he made science interesting. Labs are a piece of cake. His tests are hard, but if you study you should do fine. I rarely get better than a C in science & walked away with a B. Definitely recommend him.

Great teacher. Pretty easy teacher. Didn't really study much and got perfect on the labs and passed with a solid B. Taking Astronomy first let me sleep walk the first two months of this class as he just went over the same things. Would take again.

Great teacher and really nice person too. I never realy liked science but he made enjoyable and understandable. I did not think his tests were hard at all. I went to every class but I never studied for the tests and got a B.
