Comment:
I took 5 classes from Dr. Trundle many moons ago. He was the only bright spot associated with my utterly worthless Philosophy degree from NKU. Intelligent, caring, and wise. An incredible lecturer. A non-conformist who was his own man, and who refused to walk in lock-step with the rest of academia. To this day, Dr. Trundle still inspires me.

Interesting enough when he is speaking at a PHI 100 level. Which isnt often. But the class is very thought provoking. Trundle does seem kind of "dry" at time, but can his expectations are realistic for the class.Very anal about cell phones (turn it off before class). Raise hand to talk. He is of the "old school" and demands respect in his class.

It's simple, go to class. Everyday. Take notes. I only used the book Socrates to Sartre and Beyond to clear up what I wasn't sure about from class and right before the exams. People make him out to be a lot harder than he is. He's interesting. Like most, the class just takes a little effort. Do the above and you'll pass. If you take PHI, take him.

The class is not hard, IF you pay attention. This guy intimidates most people with how smart he is. He does talk over your head at times, but its usually about stuff you dont need to know. There are 3 required books, but I only used 1. THE BOOK HELPS. You watch 3-4 good movies, there are 2 exams and an easy paper. It's easy to pass if you try.

The fact that he teaches at NKU makes me proud to have graduated with a Philosophy degree from there. He's brilliant and a wonderful teacher.

Only 3 Exam grades which can be stressful, but they are pretty easy if you pay any attention to him. He is sometimes hard to follow but usually goes over it until everyone understands. Does try to relate the class to the world by telling personal stories which some people find annoying.

Assumes you've taken Philosophical Logic beforehand and speaks in equations. His lectures are really confusing.

Dr. Trundle is the best professor I've had at NKU. His lectures are incredibly insightful, and I've learned far more than I expected to in a 100-level class. There are only two tests, but if you attend class, the exams are pretty easy. If you take classes with him, prepare to have your mind blown!

If you have testing anxiety do NOT take him. For our class, the midterm and final exam were the only grades. If you listen to his lectures, ask him about them after class if you don't understand, and go to class, you'll be fine. He goes over all of the books in his lectures and people have passed without fully reading them. I'm one of those people.

It's either love or hate with Trundle. If you love him it's because you admire his brilliance and are amused by his stories. If you hate him it's because you're intimidated by his brilliance and are annoyed by his stories. But if you want to learn, take classes with him.

From what I have read I would not even know that they were commenting on the same teacher I experienced. Trundle is an intellegent man whose lectures seek to give examples for everyday life. I will admit that sometimes he goes off on tagents but that is his way to dig deeper into subject matter. Only 2 exams in class somewhat intimidating but easy.

Very intelligent but turned the understanding of logic into as much fun as watching an ant carry a tiny peice of bread crumb across the sidewalk. Uses the same notes he used in 2000 (no joke) and his tests were mostly random fill in the blanks, no blackboard, dry sense of humour, just not worth his boring lectures & gloating of the people he knows

Trundle was one of those rare professors who actually taught something. Be warned, however, you MUST force yourself to think. I only had him for one class, and it's been at least 5 years. But, I thought of his lessons, often since then. Including, today, when I rehashed some of the dialogue in Plato's Apology. He is a brilliant mind.

Not sure why people say he's a hard teacher; if you have blood pumping to your head at any point throughout the day it's an easy A. You also learn a lot. Show up for class and pay attention and there's no way you can't get anything less than a B. In short, great teacher, great class, easy A, and you learn a lot. For what more could you ask?

DO NOT TAKE HIM. His class was ridiculous. He would give tests on information that he never talked about. He talked about the same information for weeks. Dont even get me started on the CAVE theory. Crazy man. First test 96, second veryyy bad. I slept everyday because he was SO boring. impossible to stay awake, and 2 tests were hard.

Doesn't use real words. Spends 5 minutes on what MIGHT be on exam, 45 minutes on stuff he thinks we ought to know about the subject. Gives 2 grades a semester (exams) and you get no study guide. Good luck if your taking him.
