Very bad prof. OPENLY favours students and is childish. Doesn't respond to emails if your not of interest to him. Pulls grades out of nowhere and can't back them up. I had two A+ in my previous french courses and couldn't get more than 70 on anything in this class. Try to confront him and he gets spiteful and treats you worse after.

You can really tell he loves his job. People may think he chooses favourites, however, for the most part, if you work hard your hard work will be recognized. He appreciates honest people, not usually les lèche bottes.

Paul can appear to be a good prof but he isnt. He jokes around, and tries to make class fun. BUT..he pulls marks out of thin air, he is rude, picks favs, takes forever to respond to emails and marks fairly hard. So even though his assignments arent overly complex...getting a good mark is hard.

Paul CAN be a good prof. He makes jokes and is nice. The problem is, when it comes to exam time, you're like wtf is the exam going to cover / what have we learned. There is secrets to getting on his good side though. He picks favorites and it is important to be one. Love the Beatles, and he will love you. So he is good, but not at the same time.

He's hilarious. He's just another hard working prof trying to get the attention of the brain dead (thus the inappropriate jokes, which are appropriate for the age). He's quite fair at grading and if you participate even just a little, he'll like ya. Will do business again. A+++

Professor Bernard is a nice man who is quite funny at times in class however, a lot of his jokes are inappropriate and crude. His classes are fun and well attended however may lack in structure and clarity. Furthermore, he makes his favorites blatantly obvious throughout the duration of the semester, but still is a nice man.

Paul is by far one of my favorite profs I've ever had at SMU. He is helpful, kind, intelligent, and funny. Before I entered his Lit class, I was an English major. After his first class, I changed my major to french and have not turned back. I have had Paul for 5 classes and love everyone one of them. He makes every class enjoyable and riveting.

Great prof. His jokes can be lame, but that's what makes him funny. He makes class interesting and he encourages participation and discussion in his classes, so speak up if you have something to say. He's an easy prof to talk to and is willing to help you anytime. I love taking his classes.

I am primarily French and take these classes to keep it fresh as Halifax has a very limited number of francophones. Prof Bernard makes all kinds of mistakes in his french (he is American), and will let you think you're right in class even when you're not, so studying for tests can become a challenge. Nice man, but not the greatest prof.

Dr. Bernard's classes can be difficult but he is always willing to help students as much as possible. He will even give extra tests or assignments to students who want to improve their mark if the whole class didn't do very well on a test. I always learn a lot in his classes and he does a really good job of making class fun!
