Great teacher! Idk why the other person is criticizing his English because it's literally perfect. Felt like he genuinely cares and learned so much! He wants you to succeed in learning the material, and if you put in the effort studying, attending class, etc. you definitely will earn the grade you want. Would definitely take another class with him!

Professor Randy Yang is a great teacher who wants his students to succeed. The class material is very challenging, so he tries his best to make it accessible and digestible for all students. The study guides, practice tests, and going to office hours are SUPER helpful for the exams. Overall, I highly recommend him for perspective students.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking Biol 1A with Randy. He made the subject of biology interesting as he has a wealth of knowledge on the topic. His online format for tests, companion quizzes, and hw was very easy to manage. He responds to questions in a timely matter and gives great feedback. He truly cares for his students. Also loved his zoom filters!

Randy's Bio 1A class was challenging but I felt like I learned so much! His lectures were well organized & his quizzes/practice exams really made me feel prepared for his exams. Being able to retake his online quizzes until I was satisfied with my score was a perk! He's kind & very open to questions. Highly recommend taking him for Bio 1A!

The most understanding and patient professor I have ever met! Take his class, but get ready to listen to his lectures and do homework up to date so that you can get A easily on midterms.

His lectures were efficient for online sessions. It was not an easy class but you would succeed if you work hard on the materials. Didn't have much homework.

Randy knows how to teach a zoom class, Bio has a lot to memorize, Randy made bite sized lectures and mini quizzes you could take unlimited times so you dont feel overwhelmed. The class is very well organized and Randy is always available to consult or clarify. He knows his subject and knows how to teach it. Most homework and tests where on canvas.

He is really nice but the way his tests are worded can make it really confusing, you need to attend lectures to know for sure what will be on tests because we tend to fall behind since bcc decided to give 1 hour lecture and 3 hour lab, hard if you dont study, make sure to ask a lot of questions and start on study guides/practice tests ASAP

Randy doesn't have office hours. His lectures are hard to understand and his exams are super specific. But! He makes time after class if you need. He posts past exams and study guides and updates the study guides. If you're late too class he doesn't mind as long as you put in the effort. If you have good studying ethics you'll be able to get an A.

Unlike older reviews, Randy's English and accent is fine. He has 3 midterms and a final and couple hw assignments. His tests are lecture heavy so every class was filled with students until the end of semester. He has practice tests and whenever you ask him questions, he is always willling to help. Difficult exams but possible to get an A.

Dr. Yang (Randy) is very smart and knows his stuff so ask questions one-on-one. The problem lies in conveying that information to the class: he is UNORGANIZED and LAZY both on canvas and in his lectures. As a result it is unclear what from lecture notes and canvas to focus on. THE EXAMS are way too specific for the "big picture" way he teaches.

I was in the summer section and I definitely enjoyed this class. He tried to reduce the rote memorization and generally is a really cool guy to talk to. The key to getting an A in this class is focus on his online material and take good lecture notes. Also do well on the first lab and lecture exam because the exams only get harder material wise.

I took the summer class and while he fell behind in lecture, he was aware of the timing and shifted assignment due dates accordingly. Teaches well and very helpful when answering questions. Expectations were clear and let you know what to study ahead of time. Do the prequizzes and check in on Moodle, there's a lot of good material there.

Its a hard class for sure, the lecture is only an 1hr15min and he falls behind, but the slides are online and he responds to email questions very quickly. DO the prequizzes/homework and ALL the practice tests and you should do fine. Application in this class is key - if you don't study or form a group it can be difficult to excel. Would take again.

Clear, concise lecturer. Very knowledgeable in the field of biology (holds Ph. D). Clear on his expectations. Course has heavy work load but if you attend lecture, read the book, and keep up on the occasional homework assignments you will do well. His labs are enjoyable and intricate. More technical than some other Peralta bio professor's labs.

Randy is a great professor. His lectures are clear and to the point. He offers SO many resources like practice exams and study guides. You will have to read, you will have to take notes and you will have to study hard but if you do all those things you should be able to pass no problem! Record the lectures so you can know what will be on the exams!

Randy is awesome! Bio1A is a tough class but Randy breaks everything down and makes it simple and easy to understand. iclicker quizzes during lectures. Online homeworks due before lectures. He his class and exams are extremely fair - no curveballs. Do the practice exams!! Lab exams are difficult due to volume of material that has to be covered.
