My man turned up to office hours with a box of cookies. What more do you want? Plus he's so adorable. I went to office hours outside class and he was bored of sitting in his office, so we went to coffee and he paid for my cookie. A real g. Ya, that's about it. Simplex and Revised Simplex Method for the win.

The best Prof I've ever had. Made what may have otherwise been a dry topic into something incredible. He loves to crack jokes and use sardonic humour. If you skip class you might miss out on some of the inside jokes he likes to develop in his comedy routine.

Everyone currently in the honours math chat on Facebook is planning on working their schedules around a particular class next year just because we heard a rumour that Anstee may be teaching it. Best prof, engaging, eccentric genius, novel approaches to concepts, + we get cookies and his shirts are pretty cool (if you're a math nerd).

Extremely unconventional professor - in the BEST way! Definitely suitable as a teacher since he can connect with students. He is clearly a math genius. Take his class if you are top 10% academically. Be warned that MATH 223 is a ton of brutally difficult work. All-nighters every week, usually more than one. This class changed my brain chemistry.

Anstee was awesome! I loved him as a teacher so much that I would go for coffee with him almost every week. Just a great person. Tests are fair. Homeworks are long but that is expected as it was an honors course. Fantastic professor for sure

I took Math 223 with Dr. Anstee, and I really enjoyed him as a prof. The class was quite hard (honours), but he is a very engaging prof. He took a fairly dry subject (linear algebra) and made it interesting. The class challenged me in a good way, and he inspired me to do more math. Also he's going to bake us cookies on the last day!

Prof. Anstee never prepared for lectures. Messy lectures. He just randomly picked up things here and there. Quiz and tests are quite easy. No need to go to class cause it doesn't help.

The best professor I have ever had! His lecture is very easy to stay focused and easy to understand even for difficult concepts! He cares about his students very much, and he's always very very helpful in his office hours. He would extend more interesting content than you asked. He made cookies himself for students in the last lecture!

An interesting prof, but made mistakes sometimes while writing on the blackborad, so be careful! After the whole semester he would bake cookies for the whole class.

Great course, great prof. Very friendly man who cares about his students. One of my favorite math courses I've taken. Homework was challenging at times, but midterm was easy. Final was harder than the midterm but still fair.

Prof Anstee is an amazing lecturer; he makes you see connections throughout linear algebra that you would not have been able to through reading a textbook. The class seems to be very engaged in lectures. He also wears cool math t-shirts. Definitely one of the most work-intensive courses in all of UBC 2nd year. also very intellectual challenging.

If you have the chance to take 441 with Anstee, go for it, it's really fun! Assignments along the way are very "real world" and I found the course as a whole very useful. Anstee was there for us every step of the way. He always welcomes you into his office to give project advice and chat.

Super funny, quirky, kind and awesome professor. Baked us cookies on the last day of classes. Has a certain sense of humour and is extremely smart. However, doesn't mean that everyone will understand him though. You have to pay close attention in his lectures! BEST PROF EVER. :)

If you are bad at math you won't like him. But he is a math genius who genuinely cares about his students and is a nice guy. Quirky, too, handed out rockets on the last midterm. He's too smart to be teaching a course for math-dummies. But I would say be prepared to do lots of at-home practice. The people who get 80-90s are already good.
