Comment:
Dr. Poler is great. Chemistry courses are hard, but as professor he explains things really well, he's always willing to be a resource out of class, and he makes engages with students well. Its exam and quiz heavy but that honestly helps with learning. Choose him if you're willing to put the effort to actually learning something. 10/10 would take AG

I honestly really liked Dr. Poler. It is really difficult to be able to understand a chemistry class online but I think he did a really good job. Focus on his lectures and practice examples he gives. I focused too much on the textbook at the beginning. Also, go to his office hours they are super helpful!

I would take anyone but Poler. He is very rude and does not care about the student. He is not willing to help at all and gets mad over the smallest things. You need to live and breath Chemistry to pass this class.

He has a really good personality, however, hes pretty impatient and expects you to be super skilled with every single thing you learn. We all have lives so Chemistry can not be drilled in our heads. He does a poor job explaining concepts and makes it harder than it should be. YouTube will be your bestfriend for this class.

Very unprofessional in his conduct and I'm thoroughly disappointed with how he treats students and fellow faculty members. Chem isn't easy and this professor is living proof of it.

I took him during the Summer I session. Dr. Poler was a great professor. He does a lot of examples in his lectures to make sure students understand. Definitely use his office hours. His exams and quizzes were very tough so you really need to study by doing example worksheets (answers are posted so you can check your work) for each topic on exams.

I took his class during the summer and it was absolutely terrible. I understand that its summer school and goes a lot quicker but his lectures are not helpful. He switches topics quickly and randomly. Doesnt teach the simplest way. And teaches things that you dont need to know. Definitely wouldnt recommend during the summer unless you have to.

Great teacher, though his tests are extremely difficult, mainly because they're extremely long for the allotted amount of time you have to take them. If you cant complete at least 1 question a minute then you will probably do poorly on his exams.

By far the best Chemistry professor at this university. Explains everything in detail and makes it relevant in a broader context such as physics and biology. For any Pre-Med student if you don't get this professor just go to another school! Clearly explains in detail each lesson and even prints worksheets and guides for you! Hilarious as well!

Chemistry 1251 is a hard class, Dr. Poler made it really easy to grasp and made it make sense. His lectures are amazing, as he uses real life examples to make sense on chemistry concepts. I would definitely take this class again and wish he taught my upper-level classes as well, definitely the best teacher if you are trying to take 1251.

Dr. Poler is a great teacher, however he wants to teach you stuff you do not need to know, so then you are required to read the book material on your own. If he teaches something one day, the next class he expects you to master it. Be prepared to work.

READ the textbook. The textbook is his "bible" for his class. Exams are hard but not impossible. He gives weekly quizzez that can be challenging if you don't read the textbook. Overall he is the best chemistry professor.

The hardest professor I've had. Make sure you really look at your quizzes and keys after he grades because he makes mistakes and if you wait too long to say something he won't change it. You absolutely have to study and read the material. He makes a lot of errors in lecture. Most of the students had to correct him. Exams suck. Good Luck!

Dr. Poler did everything he needed too. He has a passion for Chemistry and students. I was not a fan of his lecturing style. I can not stress how important it is to also read the textbook and do the homework problem sets. His tests were tough and studying the night before is not good enough.

Incredibly skilled lecturer. He's very passionate about chemistry and teaching. This class WILL NOT be easy if you don't go to class. I find that I'm doing fairly well by going to class and doing the worksheets he puts on moodle. I would also do problems from the book before your test. It's not easy, but it won't break your back either.

Comment:
1252 is very conceptual. It's necessary to read the book prior to his lectures. His "problem session" worksheets are very helpful (a little too easy). Don't use those to study for his tests though. His tests are tricky (harsh grader) so the PS worksheets won't really help. Study and you'll do good. I would take him if he taught another class.
