She is incredibly rude and condescending with a nasty attitude. She has an air of arrogance about her and is very particular. She is by far the worst person that I have ever met in my life!

Dr. Wiles is extremely quirky. She can be condescending, funny, and confusing at times but overall I learned a lot about philosophy. We had a reading or paper for almost every class then class time was spent solely on discussing what we read.

Very confusing class, a lot of reading. Quizzes very often, but Wiles is entertaining. Good for completing gen ed, but if you do not like philosophy do not take it.

Very scattered and confusing but honestly very entertaining. Philosophy is not my forte so I found the class very difficult (I understood nothing). Very fun class if people participate, if I didn't have fun people I would have hated everything about this class.

She has a habit of being condescending. She's also very quirky. Doesn't always explain things in the clearest way. Although I found her to be flat out rude at times, I'd say if you do the work and make a big effort you'll do fine.

Professor Wiles is a nice lady but kind of a frustrating professor. She gives a lot of reading and has a pop quiz almost every class period. She goes on tangents sometimes and will make a huge show if she can't hear what you're saying by saying "So and so can't hear you"-so kind of annoying in that sense. Isn't especially clear at explaining thing

Dr. Wiles is a very unique professor. She loves to get everyone in the class involved. Lectures require prior reading that are usually difficult to follow but she is very good at clarifying point during class. Did not like my writing very much but the majority of my class did just fine with that. Only 2 multiple choice tests along with a MC final.

I LOVED her, but this class was so much work, especially for a gen-ed. Lots of reading and writing due every class, but it was graded easily. Her tests were also really easy and her lectures clarified the readings. She cared about all of her students and got really sad when we had to leave on the last day... I wish she were my grandmother.

she only provides 4 grades that ACTUALLY make a difference and everyone fails one paper horribly with no way to make it up. daily writing prompts and small pop quizzes with study guides. honestly she just is smart on the subject herself and can't transfer the information to students, nor help them correct grades they've done poorly on. no recommend

Great Proffesor. As others mentioned, she is a little insane and quite witty. If you enjoy thinking, andor want to understnd Platonic forms - take her. People who dont like her are either dumb or arrogant.

Teaches very well and gives clear explanations so you understand confusing concepts. Gives "pop quizzes" on reading assignments but if it has study questions with it, you'll be having a quiz so make sure to do those. There's 3 writing assignments that aren't hard. Lectures can get boring but the class is definitely doable! i recommend her!

I personally hate philosophy and coming to this class took all my energy. Attendance is mandatory because the class is very small. There are reading assignments given often, 2 tests, 3 papers, and the final. She grades tough on the papers...I always get A's on my papers and she gave me a C on the first one. Make sure you participate too.

Great professor for philosophymakes class entertaining and is quirky in a good way. Lots of homework given, but it's manageable if you're willing to work hard. I would definitely recommend taking her if philosophy is something you're interested in!

If you can take a different class, I would suggest it! It is a bunch of reading for every class with reading questions that must be done - grades kinda tough on these. The writing assignments are so dull and there is a 10 page paper in the end. Do not take this class, it is not worth the stress.

She grades very easily on reading responses and papers, and her tests range from easy to moderate. She is also very fun and quirky, and it is clear she is passionate about the subject. She will call on you without warning, but she is always nice when she does so.

She seems a little strange at first, but she is worth taking. As long as you go to class and participate in class discussions, she will like you and be willing you help you out. Rarely any homework, quizzes almost every day but they are EASY

Wiles is hot in a cool way, well-informed, engaging, dry sense of humor, yet introduces philosophy in a way that the best students love. Great honors class!! I have learned so much and want more. Am considering majoring in philosophy because of this class.

Wiles is very passionate professor. Class is very open to discussion, but can be hard to follow and often moves too quickly. No powerpoints or lecture aids, so take down everything you hear her say. One large paper in the middle of the semester, but she isn't too strict with grading. Tests are reasonable and overall I learned a lot in this class!

Comment:
I took this class a few years ago and still reference class discussions today. Dr. Wiles is an amazing professor. This is not a hard class, but it is challenging...which is perhaps the point of learning? There is a rather long paper on the forms but it's broken down into small, individual questions. If you do the work, you'll do fine.
