Before I took his class, I heard he was tough. However, I took his 1520 history class and found that his class was actually fun. His lectures are amazing and will really inspire you to pay attention. He really knows his history. If you take good notes, you won't need the book. Whatever he lectures, will be on exams. Great professor. Don't miss out!

Constantly berating students for bad handwriting, meanwhile he has a sloppy, hybrid cursive and nonstandard abbreviations that students were constantly needing clarified. You do not have the option to type anything up, and he takes points off of anything he thinks is misspelled / can't decipher. No study guide for tests, you should just KNOW.

Grading system was awful, one mistake on the test (which he is very, very particular about) means a B instead of an A. I have never had a course before this one where the teacher told a student to leave. He assumed everyone in the COLLEGE class was 16 (I'm 25?!). Basic knowledge, I can't believe it was the only POLSCI I could take. Textbook was BAD

dry &boring teacher, lecture heavy. lectures seem to have little correlation to whats on tests. take lots of notes & read the book to study for the tests. doesnt provide study guides or any clue to what might be on the tests. hell take off points for miss spelled words italization errors. only good thing is he let the class out early.

He leads a discussion-based lecture, so make sure you are reading the book. Participation in class will help you tremendously. Make sure to do all of the work (There isn't a ton apart from the reading.). He may seem a little abrasive at first, but once you get to know him, he is one of the most caring and concerned teachers you'll ever have.

lectures are informative. If you paid attention in high school social studies then you will pass. Read chapters before coming to class or it will be boring. Had three test and three application assignments. Test were based on what we went through in class so attendance is mandatory. Miss one day miss a whole lot.

He is a very dry teacher and does not assist in the learning process. Most of the class will have to be self taught. You also have little warning of what to expect on tests.

Don't make spelling mistakes on tests because he takes off points, but he is such a great teacher. Explains everything thoroughly, has good lectures, assigns great books to read, and tests are kind of difficult but self explanatory. Would most definitely take him again.

Show up to class on time, attendance is tracked in the beginning of class on a sheet of paper. Just pay attention and you'll pass. Follow along with the syllabus so you're prepared for the upcoming chapters, tests, quizzes. Easy A

Tests are what makes the grade. If you are not new to government then you will need to read the book. I got an A in the class and i never opened the book because i know how government functions. It is an easy A class. I would take him again for any class. He is my favorite teacher so far.

Professor Lyon is a grate teacher! There was only two of us in the class which made it really easy to get a hold of him and ask questions. His grades are based off of your test and one four page paper of your choice which are all soo easy. I would totally take him again! Though he can be intimidating, he is overall a caring and great teacher!

At first i thought he was so rude but then as the semester went on i got use to his personality. Get on his good side he hates the Yankees do not say that word in his class. I took American history your graded is all based on test and one paper. Must show up to get notes he does not use blackboard and he will randomly call on you.

I didnt mind this professor at first, but recently he has been so rude and inconsiderate. I find myself not wanting to go to this class because I get such a negative vibe. He takes off points if you spell something wrong and I also I feel like our lectures don't go along with the chapters. I wouldn't take this class again with this professor.

Only government class available and I've heard good things about him. I guess my class was the class that he decided to be different because he never lets us out early and drags out lectures. If you're late you will not be able to sign in (so you might as well miss all of the class). Never yawn & never get caught on your phone!!!

Very strict about phones, can be sorta rude but hes an alright guy. He will take off for misspelling on exams. Doesn't give study guides for the exams, there are 3 exams are usually 10 mult choice and 20 extended response but you pick 15 you want to complete. Not a difficult class, he's just a tough grader. Usually always lets out class early

Great teacher, has a lot of knowledge & gives clear understanding of govt. Tests will be hard if you dont study. Usually lets you out of class early & doesn't drag out the lecture but makes sure you know everything you need. Highly recommend! I'd love to have his class again!

He usually didn't keep up for the full class time which was nice, but his lectures were very hard to follow at first. I eventually figured out that my notes were much better when taken on my computer (he tends to jump around and move very quickly). But he is pretty funny and I feel like I learned a lot. I would take it again.
